My due date was 2nd March.
I started having slight contractions on 26th Feb. The following day, they became more intense and regular, but were only coming every 20 mins or so. For the next couple of days, I kept having contractions, but they would die down in the daytime, and pick up again at night. Eventually on 28th Feb at about midnight, me and DH made our way to the hospital as I had been having regular long contractions for a few hours and advised to go in, and we found out I was only 3cm. We decided to go home, and its a good job we did. My contractions basicly almost came to a halt. I did loads of housework to try to start them off again the following day, as by now I wanted this baby out! I went to bed on 29th Feb with occasional contractions, and woke up about midnight with terrible pain and an urge to push!
We went to the hospital, and the midwife looked at me like she was going to send me home again, and thats what I expected as my contractions were only about 10 mins apart at best, but still not regular, but unbearably painful. When she examinded me she asked for a 2nd opinion, and found I was fully dilated! She broke my waters to try to pick things up a bit.
I started using the gas and air, but started feeling funny after a while, taliking about tap dancing monkeys on the ceiling:haha:. I was ready to start pushing, but still not having many contractions, and they said at that rate it would take about 9 hours to push the baby out! They started me on a syntocin drip to try and make the contractions come closer. After about an hour of pushing, baby Ethan was born at 4.25am weighing 8lb 6oz:cloud9:. I got a pretty nasty 3rd degree tear which had to be stictched in theatre afterwards under a spinal, but it was totally worth every minute of the pain.
