I started with 2 shapes like this (see pic) 1 a bit shorter than the other. I cut out a piece of outside fabric, lining fabric and interfacing in each shape. Ironed the interfacing onto the outside fabric. Sewed the 2 outside pieces together around the sides and bottom. Sewed the lining pieces together along both sides. Pinched the bottom corners and sew across them to form the flat bottom.
Turned the outside fabric right side out. Put it inside the sewn together lining fabric. Sewed along the tops to attached the outside fabric and lining fabric. The turned it all inside out. Sewed up the hole at the bottom of the lining. Ironed and added a button.
My sewing machine has gone kapputt so I'm sticking to small things at the moment that require minimal sewing but I might copy you and do dome blankets when I'm up and running again!
I made a tag blanket for my friend tonight. she previously had one but got lost so I have altered a new one and added a ribbon with a dummy clip so It can be attahced to clothing or something else so its secure x
i sew somtimes but heres some recent things i really like. tweed, leather soled slippers lined with fleece, and a new wool spring coat lined with cotton. if you can see i have also made her jeans longer lol. shes to tall but to skinny for the next size up.

hi,its 38 inches by 38 inches,i did a chain of 23 and 2 chains for turning.each square is about 6 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches and finished with a border.
Ive finished my first blanket Its 35by30ish. Iv started a new one thats 45inchs wide and going to go to about 35inches long. Il post pics when its done might take another 2 weeks though!

It was a special gift for a friend who is going to give it to her new baby grandson when he's born. The mommy loves Beatrix Potter so I sourced the fabric specially. The taggy ribbons are 'It's a Boy, white with lace edge and blue polkadot and it's backed with bumpy cream super soft minky. I'm so pleased with it.
