the duggars

It's disgusting the things some people comment on when you read news articles... I was reading one about this and the woman said things like they deserve this for not using birth control and now this is a reason to... no one ever said the amount of pregnancies was the cause of premature labor... look at how many people on this site alone are hit with this sort of thing unfortunately. It was due to a problem with her gallstone I guess?

It's just sad... I understand that people have the right to their opinions, but to say they deserve to have a premature baby is horrible :growlmad:

I agree that it is completely tasteless and unfair to say anyone ever "deserves" any sort of misfortune like that.
However, there is a greater risk of complications with a high number of pregnancies and her age. Some people don't find that risk acceptable, others do. It's a personal choice.
If I already had several children and knew that the next baby would be facing a lot of risks, I probably wouldn't continue getting pregnant. But that's me. Her body, her family, her life, her call.
I do think that when you decide to make money by putting your family in a nationalized TV show, you probably shouldn't be too surprised to hear a LOT of opinions.
I still think it's in really bad taste to say something like that, but criticism sort of comes with the territory, doesn't it?

i know that family i think its called kate plus 8 they only do it to save for their childrens college tuition which is good maybe thats what the duggers are doing too.

i hope the baby is ok my thoughts are with them x

I heard about the latest baby. Very scary. Their way of life is not for me, but I have to give them credit. Their kids are all pretty well behaved. They're hard working and stable.
There are some disgusting people on facebook saying horrible things about the family. They're not living off other people, they pay cash for everything and are not in debt. Many of our parents and grandparents came from families of 12, 15, 18 kids. It used to be common. It's not anymore and people criticize people that go against the norm.

I do agree with you hun, it does come with the territory.. I do think they have done a far better job of keeping the media tame for them, whereas Jon and Kate didn't. I wonder how soon til they are pregnant again... does anyone know how old Michelle is?

While I really don't want to start anything, and I am the first to admit that I am very cynical about these wholesome families that sign up to put their lives on TV, I might point out that in the Duggar family only the boys would get the option of going to college, and even then, it's probably Bible college. I think the Duggars are very interested in putting their lifestyle in the spotlight. Fair enough. We all have the free will to choose to watch and be influenced or not. But as with J&K +8, there is a LOT more money involved than college tuition. I find that excuse for subjecting your children (and let's face it, making money off of them) to the constant presence of a TV camera a little lacking in substance myself.
But remember, I'm a cynic! :)

They are Independent Baptists. The Duggars also are associated with a Conservative Christian movement called Quiverfull. Quiverfull families try to have as many children as possible and do not use any birth control. They just have as many children as "God intends them to have."

They say that they are not Quiverfull. She used to use birth control, came off it and had their first. Then went on birth control again and got pregnant, but has a miscarriage. They believed that the birth control caused the miscarriage and said they wouldn't use it again and would treat any children they had as blessings after that. From what I've read anyway...

Here's the interview where they talk about Quiverfull:

they are too religious for my taste
and without any education from the outer world I think they have as much chance on the modern working market as an amish nearly.

They really have to be in the light of God to have that many kids and still be afloat. Good for them. xxx
