the final shave!

i adore my boyfriend and trust him with my life but the thought of letting him loose down there with a sharp blade makes my legs slam shut!! might have to have a little more faith in his abilities though haha!

think i might keep it all short with clippers and then if i have time just neaten it up when i know i'm going in.. at least if i don't get the chance to it won't be too bad if it's all short..

just hate the thought of it being inbetween clean shaves and itchy when i go in!

if someone had have told me a year ago i'd be talking about my pubic hair on an internet forum... what on earth has pregnancy done to me?

i'd be more concerned about being itchy postnatally whilst ur got a big pad on!! thats whats on my mind...the thort of postnatal bleeding and being itchy jus makes me feel bleugh...lol x

That is a bl**dy good point and one that hadn't crossed my mind at all!! Thanks!

Have been fretting about what to do for the labour part - in particular whether I will be able to manage to time clean shaven well enough and whether even if I can will it look appropriate.

But thinking about it now there is no way I will want to be shaving down there afterward - if I'm going to be scared of having a wee there is no way I'll want a sharp blade at large! And definitely do not want itchy horrible stubbly growth.

I think I can manage to keep it trimmed and neat for labour purposes - is that kind of icky though?

Still possibly the lesser of two evils!

Saying that all the midwifes in my hospital seen quite comely and oldish (fifties) - they might find clean shaven more odd?

Ah the weird and wonderful dilemnas of pregnancy and childbirth - cannot believe i'm dicussing these things on an internet forum either!

to b honest ..i think they have seen it all before...lol xx

How long does a wax last?

I normally shave almost everything away everyday but I don't want to end up too fat to manage! I might go in for a wax at 38weeks too
xxx

waxin usually lasts 3-4weeks before its at the length when u can wax again...but there is some growth after 2 weeks...mind u, i do my own...so mayb im not doin it as efficiently as the professionals..theirs might last longer...

i'd love to go for a wax but i have stretch marks on the under side of my bump which go in a trail under my lady garden :haha: and they are quite sore.. can't imagine a wax would be too comfortable on them! i'm doomed to be the girl the midwives are laughing about in the staff room - i just know it!! :haha:

I had been using Veet spray all through the pregnancy on mine with no problems. Decided to do it "one last time" 2 days before getting induced. Did it blind cos obvs couldn't see anything ... WELL, oh my god, my husband cracked up laughing when he saw me and so did my midwife (she has delivered five of my six children and thankfully I know her well) and after the birth I saw why ... I'd sprayed off all the hair at the top half of my fou fou but left like a beard on the bottom half. Ooooh, the shame!!! Wish I'd left it alone now haha!

Even worse, I gave birth on all fours and when I turned round at the end of it all the second midwife that was called at the end for the delivery was my next door neighbour but one!!!!!!!!

i was just thinking about what my plan of attack would be. i have not been bothered with anything lately and i'm really starting to feel even less attractive.

HA! i cant do anything down there! i lost my trimmer! but im gonna buy a new one and try but most likely my DH will have to do it for me lol

Im gonna do mine tonight, I did it about 10 days ago and thought that would be 'the final shave' but its itchy as hell and I could have 3 weeks left and think it will be like a wilderness down there lol... tonight really is THE FINAL SHAVE!

I'm worrying now that the midwifes are going to think I'm a bit weird for being completely clean shaven - I only leave a kind of strip - like a brazillian wax? I don't want them gossipping about me! What's the normal way??

Ohhhhh the shame, thank god I don't have any in-life friends on b&b!!!!
xxx

Im just gonna crack out the hedge trimmer when the time arrives and I first feel those pains as I will be planning on having a bath anyway for as long as I can to help with pain and while im in their hubby can head off down there :D
He seems to think a razor, contractions and him wont make a good mix around me lmao
x

i'm confused cos most people tell me a bath too early in labour will slow down early labour?? but if i leave it too late then i might not be able to shave through the contractions. haha xxx

im scared that if i leave it too the last minute that ill mangle myself during a contraction or something. so now im trying to keep on top of it every other day. for the last trimester ive been leaving it to about once every 2 weeks, but now that im closer im a little nervous about leaving it that long! the whole thing is so terrifying every time though, its pretty much like rooting around with a blindfold on for all i can see with my bump in the way.

but i never thought about it before until i read someone elses post about after the labour...its going to be itchy and im not going to want to be anywhere near that area with a razor for awhile! :-/

haha this thread has really made me laugh!!

Thankfully i had laser hair removal done down there 6 years ago so dont have this problem! will try to "trim the brazilian strip" though weekly from now on though!! ;0) xx

Can I ask about the laser hair removal? I've been thinking about having that done as I'm sick of waxing and shaving. I take everything off and would probably want everything lasered except a strip (I might want a strip when I'm older). Do they laser everything including the back? How many sessions did you have to have? Have you had any regrowth? Did you have an reaction like a rash? What did it cost? I hope you don't mind me asking.

As for what I'm going to do for labour, I have been having a Hollywood but I think I'm going to shave from now on because I've been getting a rash on the 'mound' after the waxing which is really horrible and takes days to go away.

Haha same here, same here XD

Still, I have no problem getting lovely OH to do it.... actually i used to get him to do it if we bathed together etc before i was pregnant lol
the way i saw it was, if he wanted it clean shaven he can get down there and do it :D:haha:

I only ever attack mine with a trimmer on a low grade, too many bad experiences with ingrowing hars (I also await info on the lazering with intrest :) ) on my last attempt I seemed to have missed loads of bits as I just cant see!
my OH has flat out refused to help me :)

OMG I am so jealous! Was about to get this done and then fell pregnant with Sofia, cannot wait to do it though :)

So far I've been using my bush strimmer ;) I never shave with a razor, owwie to ingrowing hairs.

I let my DH do it last week and he was really rubbish. First of all he pulled it across right through the landing strip and then he managed to nick me.

Normally I get a brazillian done and they don't hurt at all but when I had one at 36 weeks with Sofia I have never cried so much in my life! Kinda scared to try it again this time.

Hi ya honey!

yes of course!!

I had the treatment as was always constantly covered in infected hair roots/ingrown hairs etc etc which made me extremely self concious on holiday/ in the "bedroom" etc etc.

Ive had it all off yes , except for s strip which i keep short with a bikini trimmer. Im naturally fair haired so didnt have any pubic hair at the back or down my legs as such but yes theyll go as far back.down as you want!

You get instantaneous results from the first treatment, hair literally falls out approx two weeks later & you go back for sessions maybe every 10 weeks to start with at (£100 pound a go ) ..this is to enable hair re-growth so its lasered at the correct stage of regrowth to get optimal hair removal.

i bought a package from my salon for £400 for my first 6 treatments, i then had about further 6 after this.

if youre darker haired you'll get a better result as the laser detects the dark hair against your pale sckin - obviously a problem for us blondies - yes my hair has gone, i dont wax. pluck or anything now & havent for 7 years however i do have some really blond, downy hairs like on your arms which the laser couldnt detect??? really soft & not visible really, this doesnt bother me as i look clean & tidy all the time down there with the rest gone :0).....

its not cheap - i treated myself before i bought my house etc & didnt have the outgoings i do now!! it probably cost me about £1,000 in total - i have maybe one yearly "top up" before i go on hols or whatever at a cost of £50 ( although most salons charge nearer £100 ) . to catch & kill any slight regrowth that may hv appeared!! even this yearly top up though to keep things tidy i think is great though considering how much you pay for waxes etc otherwise!

um think ive answered all your questions!!!???? oh, it took about 15 mins for the area that i had done - its relatively pain free..im not gona lie - you can feel it, you can smell burning & your feel tiny little "elastic pings" i spose i can describe it as on your skin during the treatment - i personally never had a rash afterwards - although they always applied aloe vera to "cool the skin" immediately afterwards...

i was told there may be regrowth with hormonal changes in my body
- i hv noticed my downy hair than ever with being pregnant which is annoying but i was told this may be the case but its by no means " coming back" - in the new yr or when im back to work next summer i will probably treat myself to a couple of top up sessions which will get rid of these extra hairs in quickly!!

definitely worth the yearly upkeep now that ive paid out the intial amount!!

I've got a bit of time yet, but i just use the clippers, but I might go and get waxed... my OH is a bit clumsy... and I value my lady garden and all the bits that go with it! We have become very attached after almost 24 years!! xx
