Hi Gill,
sorry, new to this site, so hope you don't mind me asking you about this...
We're also with Sims and Dr. Lyuda (so nice!). My dh has low count, morph and motility. We're on the road to ivf and starting in a few months.
Just wondering if that was your first icsi? I'm very nervous and stressed out about the whole thing. I'd appreciate any advice you could offer. Thanks!
Thank you so much Gill. You are an absolute star for going to the trouble of typing up all that info!
We have another appointment with Lyuda in a few days. Will see where we go from there. Just wish it wasn't so expensive. This is going to break us... Really hope it works first time!!
Sounds like you're delighted with the service. That's great to hear. How long do you have left in your pregnancy? Hope it goes really well for you!!
Hi girls,
Sorry for jumping in. I just found your thread and thought maybe u could help me. I am also in Sims and with Dr. Lyuda. I have had 2 failed ICSIs (one with IMSI) and 3 failed IUIs and I need advice of where to go from here.
Brief history:
Me 31, dh 33
Me: Blocked tubes, extremely low amh, thyroid antibodies
Dh: Extremely low count and poor motility.
We have been ttc since April '09. Had a very early mis (4 weeks) in July '09. Then onto our first ICSI in Novemeber 2010 because we found out both my tubes were blocked. The ICSI failed miserably. I was on a long protocol - the pill, nasal spray, 600 puregon, luveris. We got 8 eggs - 3 were immature, 3 disintegrated upon touch of the needle, 2 fertilised (one of those didnt look great). We had a day 2 transfer with one embryo = BFN.
A month later I was waitng for my next period after failed cycle period. It was late. I was pregnant. A miracle. How with blocked tubes?? I lost our baby at 12 weeks in March 2011 with no reason. Tubes were rechecked to see what was going on. Both open but not great.
So 3 IUIs and 3 BFNs later I went for another lap and dye with hysteroscopy. Left tube blocked and right tube shit and wavy but a little bit open.
So onto ICSI with IMSI. On a short protocol - NO pill, spray or luveris. On estrogen priming protocol 600 gonal f, steroids, intralipids. Was on DHEA for 3 months prior. Only got 3 eggs even though had about 8 nice sized follies. Empty follicles??? 3 eggs fertilised. We were going to day 5. Phonecall on day 4 to say embryos had slowed in progession and they were giving them another 24 hrs. Next day embryos had all stopped. No transfer. That was just yesterday so I'm devastated at the moment.
So my questions are:
Have any of u gone through more than 2 failed ivfs / icsis with such poor results? What can be done differently? My eggs are obviously of poor quality so can anything work for me?
Should I be tried on a completely different protocol?
Is there anyone I can go to for advice / opinions - another fertility specialist? Can anyone help us?? K*nt ayers - i have seen his name mentioned on threads. What does he do???
Should we move clinics, go abroad??? Is it time to give up on my own eggs if they always seem to be of poor quality?
Any success stories after 2 failed ivfs? Are my chances decreasing now that it has failed twice?
I am going back up to S*Ms on saturday. Do any of u have questions I should ask?
Please help me if you can because I am just lost
Wishful xxx
Hi girls, wishing you the very best with your treatment. I'm with sims too and under Dr Walsh, he seems very direct and not the most approachable but at the same time seems to have a good rep. We've been ttc for two years and are unexplained.amh is 15 He's recommending iui for 3 goes because i'm so young 30 but i'm really confused whether i should just ask for ivf as worried about the costs- so unsure- obviously if i thought iui would work i'd go with that but success rates don't seem to be great from what i gather reading on forums. Any advice would be very much appreciated, i'm so confused about the whole thing. thanks
