Did you try on or look at a dress and think thats 'the one' i went dress shopping yesterday and really liked 5 of them after trying on and i ddint think either of them was 'the one' but ive never thought that about anything, then i spoke to my friend and she said well you cant get any of them because you will know the 1st time you try it on. But i think im gonna have to try the same dresses on loads of times before i decide. Am i the only one to think like this?

I didn't like any of them when I went through the rails but picked about 5 to try and some were as horrific as I thought they would be and some were ok but didn't make me get the feeling I wanted.

Then having chatted with the girl and he getting an idea of what I was like, she went off and got 2 more, both of which I sort of  at when I saw them but the first one was gorgous and then when I tried the 2nd on, well, that was it, that was MY dress!!!

I am on the same train of thought as your friend but that's just me, if you know yourself you never react like that to anything then maybe you wont.....but unless you have to get a dress quick I'd give it some more shopping trips and you may just get that feeling :hugs:

I know what you mean, im just worried now what if i never find the one dress i want, lol i mean i LOVE the 5 i have shortlisted, but i normally have a tendancy to love something, buy it then regret it...so i guess im taking my time with the dress, but then i think if im ummin and rrr in then it cant be the one !! Im just gonna get married in my birthday suit i think lol

I tried one dress on and fell in love with it. I went to a few other shops and tried a few more dresses but none felt right. I ended up with the very first dress :)

I just posted something very similar a couple of days ago...I havent found 'the one' yet but scared im gona try one on, its gona be the one and its gona cost a fortune!

Luckily the place ive gone to only has dresses under £1000 which is my limit, and theyre all lovely, i ddnt look at the price cause i thought theyd be £999 or something but the most expensive i tried was £600 :happydance: Although im scared of there being 'the one' and just dismissing it because i get really shy when trying it on if that makes sense.

I agree that if you have any doubt at all then you probably shouldn't get that dress. A lady in one shop told me that if you have even the smallest doubt then it is not the dress for you as all you will think about is that little thing.

I had tried on quite a few dresses and shortlisted a couple i liked. Then I found THE ONE!! I had tried a few that the lady in the shop has pulled out for me and I came out of the changing room and saw my dress hanging up and said I really want to try that one on. As soon as i had it on I knew. The lady even said that I was smiling so much she knew I loved it. I tried a few more on but couldn't find any that were as gorgeous. I do think you will know when you find the right one hun and I noticed your ticker says you have 7 months to go so I would just set a day aside soon to go and try on more dresses and maybe go back and try on the ones you liked again. I know I was told to order 6 months before so you have a month or two!!!

babybump - i know, i never realised it took months  i better get a move on, the only thing i have sorted is the venue lol

Don't worry hun it'll all come together!!
They say it takes that long but it didn't for mine so i'd definetly ask.
If you need any advice or just to talk weddings feel free to send me a message I love talking weddings and babies but I think i am slowing driving my OH mad lol!!!

Thanks !! I soo may take you up on that, my conversation is only ever my baby or my wedding, although not much bout my wedding as nothings done ahhaa. I just dnt where to start, why cant it be as quick and easy as weddings on tv !!! lol x

I went to one shop, picked three dresses off the sale rack, loved one, hated one, quite liked the third - and ended up buying the first one. So the first wedding dress I ever tried WAS the one. I love it.

It did help that I was very short of time (9 weeks from setting the date to the actual date) and that made me be decisive. But it is extremely similar to my ideal dress I found 2 years ago when we were first engaged, so I think I would have gone with it, even if I'd tried 50 dresses on. There isn't any doubt in my mind that it's the ONE for me. :)

I think mine was the fifth or sixth dress I tried on and when I came out of the changing room and saw myself in the mirror I was like 'Wow'. I knew it was THE dress x

Do any of you ladies have pictures of your dresses.

I k new as soon as I tried it on, and it was the first one I tried. I tried hundreds after that & wouldn't change a thing :)

Trust your instinct hon.

x

No problem hun!!
I know what you mean on TV they get engaged and the next thing you know they are getting married LOL and those Wedding Tv programes they just walk in somewhere say I want this and it happens!!!
What have you already sorted hun??

Just the venue  LOL i have no idea about table decorations, we're going for a taster sometime to choose food, gonna go to the wedding dress place again in the next couple of weeks. I have no idea what else needs to be done :nope: Not only that but the same event we are having an indian blessing cause my OH is half indian and i aint got a clue about that !!

:hi:

Are you getting married and reception all at the same place?? (sorry if i am being to nosey just tell me to bugger off!! )

We are having tall thin Vases which we brought ourselves from Dunelm and our florist is going to fill them for us.
I'm no help on the Indian blessin i'm afraid but sounds lovely!

Ok So this is what we have sorted out but obviously it all depends on what you and your OH want we have...
Church,
Venue,
Dress & Bridesmaid dresses,
Suits,
Photographer,
Invitations,
Cars,
Florist,
Balloons,
Cake,
Rings

We have decided on our favours just need to make them (we are making our own candles), and we still need to pick hymns and readings so we can get order of service printed.
Obviously you may not want some of these thinks but I would say if you want to have a photographer that would be my next thing to sort out as they can get booked quite quickly the same goes for florists as we found some only like to do one wedding a day.

I would sit down with your OH and make a list of everything you want at your wedding and then put in in to priorites of what means the most to you both. The you have something to work from!!

Hope this is helpfull and to to overwhelming!!! I tend to get a bit carried away with weddings!!!

I was the same when I went shopping for my dress, I had an idea in my head of what I wanted but when I tried a dress on there was always something that I didn’t like about it.

The last shop I went in to I really liked a dress, it was very traditional and sparkly but there was something about it that I couldn’t put my finger on, I went into the changing room and tired it on but when I walked out people didn’t really have a reaction to it so I went back into the changing room and asked the lady to show me a few dress that she thought might suit me. She bought me one dress which was white & red, not my first colour choice as I had already chosen purple as my colour theme, but I left it till last to try it on, all the others were a no but there was something about the final dress, it was so different to any others I had tried on so I tried it on and walked out and the other brides and their family members all turned to have a look and I knew then that that was my dress. I didn't want to take it off.

I suppose what I am trying to say is my dress chose me and it was the one I least expected.

My advice would be not to try on to many dresses as you will find that you will start liking parts from each dress and that will make your decision harder.
