My waters broke at 12.30 am on Friday morning. Called the hospital expecting them to ask me to stay at home until I was getting regular contractions. But they asked me to come in to be checked out. So glad we went in when we did.

By the time we got to the hospital at 1.15 I had started having contractions, and by the time I was examined I was having contractions less than 5 mins apart, and was already 3cm dialated.

Said I could stay in. I managed until about 2.30 when I asked for pain relief (tens machine did nothing for me - I was too far gone by the time I got it on). Had gas an air. By about 4am I was feeling the urge to push. The midwife said I couldn't be ready yet, but when she examined me I was 9 and a half cm.

I wanted more pain relief but it was too late - so just gas and air for me.

I started pushing at 5am, and but babys heart beat was dropping because it was all happening so quick - so they had to help me get him out with the vontuense (sp). His hand came out by he head and I tore quite badly - been feeling very uncomfortable the past few days.

He was born at 5.22am weighing 7 ib 13 :)
