The Ultimate "Driving Test" Thread!

Thanks ladies.

I got given the bay park to do, right at the beginning of the test in the centre. I felt OK about doing that given that my instuctor and I had been going over some of the manoevers in the hour before. So that was fine. The independent part of the test was good. Had to go left, right and left, at each crossroads I came to, then for the other one, end of the road, turn left, over traffic lights, then straight over the roundabout.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, I just needed to pick my speed up, but the problem for me is that I'd not had much experience with driving in the area, the roads were narrowish and I just was too cautious I guess. *sigh*
Will be rebooking at the end of the week for the earliest test. Not going to have anymore lessons now until a week or so before the test, just to refresh my driving. I really can't afford it now and I refuse to bankrupt myself. xxxx

Sigh driving is so expensive. By the time you pay for the test and driving lesson before it, its like £100 quid. I hope mine runs on thursday.....theres a strike on so some examiners won't be on depending on whether they are with the union or not :dohh:

If you're unsure of any areas, go on google maps street view so you can prepare yourself. It's what i've been doing :)

I failed my second test for the same reason as you, going too slow in an unknown area except mine was on a dual carriageway. Haha what a muppet I was, didn't realise it was a dual carriageway and was going 30mph

Twilight, just read on the DSA website that anyone due for their driving test while the strikes are going on are to attend as planned, so there should be no problems with you sitting your test. Really hope this is it for you and you pass :) xx

hi all i started lessons in january passed my theory in march first time after 30 hrs of lessons i had my test on the 10th june but failed i went round a mini round a bout with out looking, and had to stop on a hill as was a junction but didnt put the handbrake on so wheni went to go the examiner had to slam his foot on brake as we rolled bk lol both things ive never had trouble with during lessons so my instructor said to rebook straight away but they were booked up until sep so ive gone for a different test centre and im sitting ym test on 3rd aug i had a 3week break then had a lesson today it was a really good lesson so im just going to have 2 more in the next 5 weeks b4 my test and hope that my nerves dnt get thge better of me again

Thanks LulaBug! I've just received an email from there saying all candidates must turn up - whether or not the test goes ahead is a different matter. Fingers crossed, I really want this. So I can start paying my debts back next week and not paying for lessons!

Aw sorry about the fail LulaBug :hugs: fingers crossed for next time. As someone else said, most of the best drivers failed first time. Best to be over cautious than not :hugs:

Good luck for your 2nd attempt hun, I'm sure you'll be fine this time.

I had a look on the website to see when the next test would be available for, I'm looking at September as well.

Thanks Strawberries hun! I'm not too gutted, I kind of expected to fail, not to be pessimistic, but just because I think I had an instinct I would. I'm happy enough though with my result in that, it's just one specific area I need to improve on, had I not been so cautious and that just that one time, stayed over my side of the road, just that little bit more, I'd have passed. So it's good to see what needs work and if I can just work on that, then hopefully next time, I'll be A-OK!! :) xxx

i was going to keep an eye out for cancelations but my instructor would also need to be available as hes always very booked up lol

im hoping next time to be fine i had a fab lesson today and my instructor has just got a new car so had to get used to a brand new car lol

Oh yes, I forgot you have to check with your instructor.

And I thought I had a right to whinge when I have to wait 3 weeks

Oh my god. I'm terrified for tomorrow.

I've just had a 2 hr driving lesson and I kept making mistakes and balling things up. And my driving instructor was taking the piss out of me (but I love him really) and I just burst into tears. This for me is the hardest part of test day, keeping it together.

It didn't help that my driving instructor took me to a new route today and it had a double roundabout. I've never been to it before and watch it be my luck i'll get taken there tomorrow.

:cry::cry: i'm not feeling very positive right now and my nerves have gone to pieces.

bless you ! keep ya pecker up :) .. cos of where our test centre is here.. u ALWAYS have to do a double roundabout !! haha how unfair :P x

I'm sure it's just nerves Twilight, especially if you were fine on all other lessons. :)

Keep your chin up and I'm sure tomorrow will be fine, I'll be rooting for you. xxx
