The Ultimate "Driving Test" Thread!

good luck for today twilight
i cant book my test until i do my theory test and they are booked up until middle of august and its 3 or 4 buses away :brat:

Ah guys i'm gutted! Today was perfect, I made no mistakes, manouvers were fine, driving was fine, roundabouts was fine, weather was fine, roads were quite empty. My nerves were fine, I was so calm - the calmest i've ever been on test day, and I got to the test centre and its been cancelled because of the strike :(

I was gutted because i've never been this positive on test day before. I genuinely thought 'i'm gonna pass this' and now i've gotta wait for a new test date :brat: i'll be pissed if they put me in the afternoon test or something.

Rescue Remedy is AMAZING! Completely got rid of my nerves and my driving instructor said my driving today was the best its ever been

Aggghhhh how frustrating!! I hope that you'll get a date soon and that there'll be no strike. :hugs:

Ummm....I'm in a bit of a dilemma and need some advice.

My dad said he'd help me out with the driving test at the end of this month but when I looked online at available dates, I'm looking at September, so by the end of July, I'm bound to be looking at October for my resit.

So...I had a brainwave and I don't know how suitable it is for me to ask my instructor this.
I figured, seeing as I'm not having lessons at the moment, I don't know when he's free so...if he booked the test for me, I get to sit my test in September and I can give him the money for the test when my dad gives it to me, I'll just pass it on. Or failing that, I can pay it in installments so that I'm paying for it and then the money my dad gives me, goes back in my pocket. I hope this makes sense.

Question is, would I be too rude to ask this of my instructor? He'd previously said to me that if I found myself short for any lessons, not to worry about it, we'd sort it out at a later date and I've always paid anyways and I paid for the use of the car for the day of the test, in advance, so I figure I am trustworthy.

So...I don't know what to do. I don't want to come across as cheeky but I can't wait til October, it's just too far away. The worst he can is no right? But I don't want to cause a problem between me and him, the last thing I want to come across as is rude, but like I say, it's a bit tough for me to book a test myself when I don't know when he's free :(

i would ask him i know my instructor will book pupils in providing they give him the money or he knows when he will get it

I don't really understand.....how can your instructor book your test? I thought you had to do it yourself. Also check daily for any cancellations, they pop up all the time so you may not have to wait so long!

I mean if he books and pays for it his end, I can give him the money for it at the end of the month or in installments throughout the month. I think I'm just going to have to suck it up and just be patient and wait til October. I really think I'd be coming off as rude and cheeky and that's so not me. So I think I'm just going to abandon this plan. It was just a brain wave anyway, but after some more thoughts, I don't think it's a good idea.

I spoke to my Aunt earlier on and she said she'll give me the money for my test, so that's that problem solved!! :happydance:

Alritey ready for my rant?

I had a driving test scheduled for June 30th but it got cancelled because of the strike. So they've sent me a letter with a new test date.......August 3rd! Are they for fucking real?

So because they couldn't be arsed to get their backsides into work that day, I now have to fork out another months worth of lessons which I can't afford. I'm already £196 in debt. AND thanks to them putting my test back to such a late date, i'm now not gonna be able to sit another test (should I fail) before I go back to uni in September because a) i'll be moving away and b) I need to repay my debts before I go and c) I need to save up for uni stuff (pots, pans etc).

I'm so fucking angry!! Wankers!!

......and BREATH.

.........OH AND! They've rescheduled my test for 8:20 in the morning. My brain doesn't function at that time of the morning. I've had it that early before and my legs were stiff as fuck and driving felt wierd. My original test was for 11:21 ....perfect time of day :brat:

They have well and truly fucked me over.

Is there no way at all you can appeal that, give them a call tomorrow to explain the situation and see if theres a cancellation? It's not on that they've done this to you.

I hope they can change the date to an earlier one and a later time slot xxx

For me, my test was at 8:10 and I will be selecting that time slot again as it was really quiet at the time, although...maybe thats where I went wrong.

I'm debating changing test centres, to the one thats closest to me, but not sure if that's a wise move.

It was quiet? Do you live beside a city or anything? I've done an early morning one before and it was quite quiet which I liked but that could also be because of the route.

I got a cancellation :happydance: 8:20 friday morning on the 22nd of this month. So two weeks this friday.

I am a little nervous about it with it being early morning but its ok, i'll be taking some of that magic potion :D

Yay, nice one hun!

I live near Maidstone, so I could have opted for that one, but I'd much rather just go with the one I know, otherwise I've got to get to know yet more roads and it's such a hassle.

Herne Bay is where I'll be doing my test and it's a quiet little seaside town. Full of old folk really.

I booked my test today and I'll be doing mine on 8th September. Starting to think I should have just phoned up to see if there was anything earlier, but then I guess it gives me a break for a couple of weeks, then at the end of the month, start resuming lessons again. Extra help can't hurt I guess.

Thats fantastic you've got a cancellation! :)

Do you do yours online? You can check for cancellations yourself you know! If you google "change practical driving test" I think its the first option and you can go on and browse to see if theres any dates available. They pop up all the time.

There was nothing this morning and now theres like 6 this month. You have to check all the time though. I bet if you kept looking you could get one earlier than September :)

I'm on there now and found an earlier one, 2nd August, I've sent a text asking my instructor if he'll be free that day, but he's not replied yet. Eeeekkkk hurry up G man and reply!!

Oooo good news!! Mine didn't reply either but I booked it away :haha: Could you not do that and then just change it again if not? You can change it twice :)

He's just text back saying yes, but now the new problem i have is my dad said he'd help me out with a couple of lessons, so wanted to check it was do-able as he was going to lend me the money at the end of the month and he's not in!! AGH!!!

Might have to just leave it as it is.

Can you not ring him? Or change the date anyway and if not change it back? (the dates should still be there if not around the same). Good luck anyhow :D

I've bitten the bullet and just changed the date. I couldn't not. 2nd test, on 2nd August....that's got to be a good sign right? lol! And it's exactly a week before my birthday. I just have to pass. That'd be the best birthday present I could get for myself.

I can fit in 1 lesson at least before the day and plus I'll have the 2 hours before hand! :D :happydance:
