I just got my thyroid test results back at 3.15. They said for fertility they want it between 1-2 so they are starting me on meds. When I first had it tested 2 1/2 years ago it was 1.64. But I ovulate very irregularly. Does anyone know if this could be our problem? Or any info about this??

This could be part of the problem. My level was 5.0 and my fs was not happy with that at all!! She started me on synthroid at 50mg and that seems to have done the trick in getting my levels down...now it is slightly over 1. I still haven't had any luck getting a bfp, but I think thyroid is part of the puzzle for me.

GL!!!

Thanks! Were you having any symptoms of hypothyroid? Did you have any side effects for the meds?

I wasn't having symptoms that I knew of at the time. But I was cold a lot of the time and that can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. And since starting synthroid my bbt (I chart my temps) did increase and overall I don't think I'm as sensitive to the cold as much. And thankfully no side effects from the meds :happydance:

That's good. I'm also always cold. My bbt runs very low. It will be interesting to see if it rises

There can be a higher risk of miscarriage with a clinically underactive thyroid (ie levels of 6+) so they perfer it to be between 1-2 which they consider optimal - mine was 5.9 and was classed as subclinical hypothyroiism. It can also lead to problems during pregnancy. Ive been told that id have to see a consultant endorcynologist to manage mine if i do get pregnant in the future. You should be getting 6 weekly blood tests to check your levels to make sure they dont drop too far tho. Hope getting ur thyroid under control helps you to get ur bfp :hugs: x

Yes my dr said I will get blood drawn every 6 weeks and that she wants my levels between 1-2. I was excited about this being the issue but now I'm worried about my dh test results so I'm not sure.

When does he get his results? x

I have hypothyroidism. Currently on 125mcg levothyroxine. Been TTC for a year now. But I also suspect I have PCOS (not diagnosed but dr is saying I probably do). I know my thyroid is part of my problem. I hope you get your BFP. And I'm hoping for myself to get one in 2014.

Happy New Years, ladies. I hope we all get our BFPs.

Baby dust to all! <3

Hi everyone.
Plex we got his results, good numbers but positive agglutination. Which means some sperm are sticking together which can mean infection or antisperm antibodies which would be really bad. They haven't seen this on the previous S/As so I'm praying it's just an infection or something simple. We just have to wait to see what the dr says. Our follow up appt is jan. 15.
Did you girls have irregular cycles before the thyroid meds? I'm praying mine finally regulates.

One of the reasons the doctor thinks I have PCOS is because I haven't had a period in over 2 years. I had them when I was 16 and they were irregular and they became more and more irregular until they just stopped all together. I've been on thyroid medicine for about 8 months now, and I have not regulated. But I also have not found my correct dosage yet. I just got upped to 125mcg, and it's made me feel a lot better so I'm hoping it'll help more.

But it may be completely different for you!
And I hope you all the best in your journey! <3

From the sound of it its probably just an infection - is he going to have another test on the 15th? Really praying that's the cause of it.

My cycles are always irregular varies from 25-70+ days the thyroid meds haven't regulated them but I do have pcos too. Hopefully your thyroid is the problem and the meds do the trick for u xx
