Hi ladies, I've been looking around trying to find my answer, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

As mentioned in other posts, my Dr. has put my on Letrozole this month (monitored), and during my visit last week, they took blood, and did an u/s to check for progress, and I had 4 mature follies. I was of course happy about this, but I knew I would get something since my issue isn't ovulation, I seem to ovulate every month.

The question I have is, how do they reach the decision of when you should BD? My Dr. looked at my eggs during the u/s and seemed confident about when I should BD, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the blood work I was given earlier that day, because I didn't receive my "do it this day, this day, and this day" phone call until the results were back later that day.

I'm asking this because I usually have 4 tell tale signs that I'm ovulating (sore BBs, cramps/twinges, positive OPK, and temp spike in my chart). This time, I have passed my timed intercourse days (last day was yesterday), and I had a lot of cramps, positive opk, my BBs are only now starting to be tender, but my temperature hasn't spiked which is usually my most obvious and reliable sign. Anyone else experience this?

Or if not, can you better explain to me how they determine the timed intercourse days? She had us thursday, friday, and sunday.

Thanks! Sorry - I'm new to this!

Bumping because I need advice today if possible. Trying to decide if we should BD today even though it's the day after the last of our timed intercourse days...

Hi there. I recently did three rounds of letrizole with timed intercourse. I used a trigger shot which takes all the guess work out of the timing...you always ovulate 24 hours after the shot. In your case I think there are two ways to tell when you will ovulate. First is the size of your follicles which your doctor will have measured during your ultrasound. The second is your level of leutenizing hormone (LH). A spike in this hormone causes ovulation. I suspect this is one of the things your doctor tested for.

Temp. rise is a great way to confirm that you HAVE ovulated but it can never predict when you WILL ovulate. Make sense? The temp rise always comes after ovulation. The most fertile days are one and two days before ovulation. Don't wait for your temp rise!!!! If you want to predict your ovulation you can buy some ovulation strips at the drug store. When you get a positive strip you will ovulate about 24 hours later. So, when the test turns positive get to it right away so you will have some sperm in there waiting for the egg.

Good luck!!!! :flower:

sorry, just read your post again. See that you did use OPKs. I would call your doctor and tell him about the lack of temperature spike. Maybe he could give you a trigger shot (Ovidrel) to release the mature eggs in there if they haven't released on their own. I don't think you need to BD today since yesterdays sperm are still pretty fresh. I would tomorrow though if you aren't sure that you have already ovulated.

what day did your opk turn positive?

Hi slg! Thanks so much for responding. My OPK test turned positive CD15/22nd.

According to my chart, I haven't ovulated yet (no temp spike) even though I had positive opks, EWCM, and cramps. I understand that a temp spike doesn't mean ovulation on that day, but it does mean that today could be the day (a day without timed intercourse scheduled)

Also, I called my Dr. Today but she was busy, and is never got a call back - grr!

My question is, I feel that DH and I should BD again today just in case, but I don't want to interfere with my dr. Scheduled timed intercourse. Can I BD today too or should I just stick to the days my dr. suggested? I'd hate to miss my O day...

I don't see how BDing today will hurt. It does sound like you may be ovulating today in which case I would BD again. I know many Dr. don't recommend BDing more than every 24 hours because it can lower sperm count. Let's say you ovulated two days ago and you already conceived....BDing today wouldn't interfere with the pregnancy. If you already O'd and didn't conceive then the egg is gone now and Bding wouldn't hurt anything. I would go for it today!

I bet you see a temp spike tomorrow :)

Good Luck! :dust:

I had my temp spike, which actually made my chart say that I O'd 3 days ago. Not sure how accurate the reading was since I was pretty sleepless last night. Either way, I'm glad that I went for it just in case. Can't hurt, right?

I can't remember, are you guys dealing with mfi? If so, the timing can actually be pretty important.

Before we uncovered DH's swimmer issues we'd try to bd every day 3-5 days before o and a day or two after also assuming, what could it hurt? My doc said however that with low count, morph and motility that's actually far too much. It doesn't give his body enough time to build his numbers back up each time. We do every other day now.

In that sense it can hurt things. Probably not so much post o, but pre o bd-ing too much or on the wrong days can actually hurt your chances.

If mfi is not an issue for you then I'd say you're probably in the clear regardless of how often and you don't need to worry about the timing nearly as much

The only "sort of" issue DH has is the morphology, she said that its a little abnormal, but she's not concerned. I had a temp spike, so it seems as though it didn't matter anyway. I'm still happy that we decided to BD yesterday "just in case"
