I have the biggest patch of grey hair in the front of head ever!! that is all that is white just the front, I have a home dye I was going to use but then I found out I was preggers...so now I am wondering if I should or should not it looks awful! :haha:

I have horrible gray coming in but I'm not going to dye until I'm out of the first trimester. Until then I'm pulling my hair back so you can't see it!

since mine is in the front pulling it back makes it worst lol salt pepper shaker for sure!

You can dye your hair just as long as it's not bleach or henna , hope that helps x

In all pregnancy books I have they say hair dye is perfectly safe. The only "research" I can find to the contrary from googling this question comes from non-qualified random internet posters. The same sort of people who tell you that swimming in a pool is harmful and other such nonsense.
If the doctors say it is safe then I would go with that, and that seems to be the general consensus in everything I have read. I presume you'd only need to get it done 2 or 3 times during pregnancy anyway.
One word of warning though, your hair and skin are not the same when pregnant. Ensure you do the skin test as you might have a reaction to a dye you would normally be ok with. Also the stuff stinks so if you are feeling sick, give it a miss.

i just took my hair from purple to blonde blonde... lol the only reason docs dont want u to do it in the 1st trimester is cuz they dont want the smell to make ur MS worse.. im just fine 3 days after dying it lol

Dye it hun, I can't stand the grays myself. You'll be fine.

I've read that if you have good ventilation and use foils, it's totally fine. With the foils, it keeps your skin from coming into contact with the dye (as much). I need to do mine too - really bad. BUT even with what I read about it being ok, I still want to wait until after the first trimester - just in case.

Sometimes I wonder if breathing paint and other fumes contributed to my first baby having Turner Syndrome. We were doing a remodeling job, and I was painting and texturing a walk-in closet. I didn't know I was pregnant at the time. With this one, I'm not taking any chances!

I actually asked my midwife thia question on monday and she told me it is totallly safe tp dye ur hair when pregnant...he said there is no evidence to say otherwise and ppl only should avoid it for sickness reasons (smells and such) also she did say sometimes your hair can gO a different colour than wanted because of hormones but other that its ok :) xx

Women always find things to blame themselves over but when things go wrong it is almost never their fault. Turner syndrome is a chromosome disorder, it happens at the moment of conception before you even knew you were pregnant. You can't make it happen by breathing paint, it is just sadly an unfortunate accident of genetics.

Oh jeez, I never thought about hormones possibly making the color different. That's freaky.

yeah it is freaky haha I have black hair I would hate to see it turn green or something like that.

I'm so sorry to hear about your first baby having Turner syndrome, but know that a chromosomal abnormality is in no way your fault through anything that you did.

A chromosomal abnormality is formed at the moment of conception. Even if you were doing some mind altering drugs during conception, this cannot result in a chromosomal abnormality (but can result in abnormalities - just not chromosomal ones). I hope this makes you feel better xo

It is perfectly fine and safe to dye your hair. There are no studies that say it leads to any harm to the fetus, or the mother. So dye away!

i decided to dye my hair last week when i was 12 weeks...used one of loreal home kits which is meant to be 'natural ' (although doubt it was) and no amonia...but being preggas has made my skin bit more senstive so although dye came out great i couldnt leave it on long as scalp was bit sore.

but no way i could go 9 months with no hair dye!

xx

Personally I wouldn't. But if you are, consider using a water-based hair-dye, one of the semi-permanent types. These have fewer of the chemicals that are being researched/suspected and are considered much safer to use. Otherwise, highlight using one of those caps so the dye doesn't go directly against your skin.

Only 5 years ago-- in 2006, the EU Commission announced that it would ban 22 different hair dye substances which do not have adequate safety files. There is still a lot of controversy over some of the hair dyes on the market.
