We are taking our 18 month old abroad for a week. We are staying in a self catering villa in south of spain with my family, and flying out. On the plane it will just be me and OH and LO.

Any one have any tips to share on what to pack, how to manage LO on the plane, what to do food wise, sleeping and bedtimes (she will be in with us) ect ect.

My biggest worry is that LO should be sitting on daddy's knee as I'm 6 months pregnant, but I have a feeling she won't be happy at that and will want to come onto my knee. She is still BFing so I'm expecting that she will decide having boobie is a great way to pass the time, although it does say on the FAQ that you an't BF during take off and landing??

We have just got back from 11 nights in Majorca with a very active 19 month old!! She was really good on holiday but we went to the mini disco at night and she just wanted to run round everywhere so me and my OH never got to sit down together! Recommend reins if your LO doesn't like the pram. Also lots of vests and cool items of clothing.

the flight was ok, LO slept for most of it on way out and way back she fidgeted quite a bit but tried to keep her entertained with books, colouring and messing with the seat in front!!

Good luck!

Hiya

I just got back from a 2 week holiday to Florida and have a few little tips for you if you like :)

- Marley had to sit on my lap on the outbound flight (for 9 hours!) and he was a little figety. I just passed him to a family member every hour or so for 15 minutes so i could stretch my legs and have a rest. I walked him up and down the plane too which he loved (albeit a little too much!) and so my iPhone with A Nightmare Before Christmas was played over and over when he became restless. The inbound flight was great, a lovely stewardess gave us a spare seat for Marley so at least he could sit in his own and slept for most of the way home.
- Magic colouring books for the plane! These were fab as the pens draw clear ink - its the paper that changes colour.
- Snack boxes of Pringles/Jaffa Cakes and buy drinks for LO at the airport if they are fussy with what they might have on the plane.
- Buy a pram fan! Essential.
-Disposable bibs.
- Be wary of waterproof suncream! I used it on Marley and he got bad prickly heat all down his back. Its so gloopy that it must have blocked his pores when sweating. Poor thing. I just bought one that i reapplied when needed but was much lighter on his skin.
- Clothing; i basically packed one weeks worth of clothes for two weeks. They dont need much. A few pairs of swim shorts, little Swimmers nappies, vests, normal shorts, a couple of shirts and a spare outfit for the plane incase he was sick. Oh, and a cardigan and socks for the trip home :) he wore Kangaroos sandals and they were fine.
- Bring a pack of nappies and buy the rest there - same with babywipes.
- Agreed about reigns! Marley was quite hard work as he wanted to be off running about as i suppose its a little cruel to keep him strapped in his pram all the time. But tiring having to run after him every 2 minutes!
- A hat.
- With regards to food, let them explore new tastes :) even if its sand haha. They can just eat off your plate :)
- Take LOTS of photos!
- Marley has slept through in his own room since he was 5 months old and when on holiday, he slept in a bed with me. Now im having such a hard time getting him to settle back in his own room, its driving me mad! I wish had a travel cot in the hotel room now :)

Enjoy your holiday!
