Has anyone had to go up a size earlier than the suggested. We were thickening Ethan's milk cause of his reflux however he won't take the thickened milk and had to just give him it normally. I changed the teats back to size 2's and he is taking less and less. I thought it was because of his reflux but I tried with his feed this afternoon with the size 3 teat and he drained the bottle! Is is nearly 4 months and I know the suggested is 6 months for the size 3 teats but he wasnt spluttering or struggling. Anyone else have to go up a size earlier than suggested?

Yes, my LO has been on level 3 teats since less than 4 months. The age things is only a guide, if your LO can deal with it it's fine!

^WSS :)

Sounds like he's doing fine with the faster teats :) You'd know if he wasn't ready for them because he'd be coughing and spluttering milk constantly when he was feeding :)

I gave LO size 2 teats a few days ago as i was trying to figure out why the teat collapsed and he sucked so hard he was gulping air. He was only 3 an a half weeks. STill had the issue with the teats but he could handle the new teat just fine.

Generally if the teat collapses it's not from how hard they are sucking, but from the valve being stuck shut. If you squeeze it open before you use it again it should be ok.

Mine all seem to do this, even brand new ones. Doesnt matter now though as i bought some Dr Browns. Thanks for the info though x

The brand new ones always come stuck together, so will remain that way until you open them. They should put it on the instructions, but they don't!
