Hey all! My OH has a work trip planned in about a month and a half that he's been trying to get me to come along on. We'd be going to an awesome area that I've been dying to visit, and he would take an extra day or two so that we can have a mini-vacation. It would be a nearly free trip, so it's a once in a blue moon opportunity. The issue is that we'd need to take DD, who would be about five months then.
The two main issues are the longish flight (around 8 to 10 hours) and the time change (five hours). I think we would just stay on our local time instead of trying to change, but I still think it could be problematic in terms of messing up sleep habits.
We traveled recently with LO when she was three months, and she was fantastic on the flight (about three hours), but was a disaster while we were at the hotel. It ends up she was in the middle of a Wonder Week, though, so I don't know how she would have been otherwise.
I would expect that at five months she'd be less fussy in general, but the idea of being stuck halfway around the world makes me incredibly nervous. We would have other people traveling with us who would help out, but most of the responsibility would fall to us.
Any thoughts or experiences?
