Hi ladies... I've not posted on this part of the forum before, but really need some advice!

My OBGYN dignosed me with PCOS last year, but said she couldn't treat it
untill after I was done with childbearing. She didn't really tell me what the treatment was,
but this just doesn't seem right to me. I have heard other women on here (and on other sites)
talk about how important it was to treat their PCOS before TTC.

Can someone please shine some light on the subject for me!??

Birth control perhaps? I know it might help with elevated testosterone..which is what I have. But you obviously cant take it if ttc. Not really sure of other methods, hope someone else can help. :)

Oh sorry... I should have mentioned before, that I can't take BC due to clotting.
She said it was a surgical proceedure, but didn't say what it entailed.

Oh. I've never heard of surgery for it.. but thats just me! Sorry I'm not much help, hope you figure it out. :)

Thanks for you reply.
Maybe I'll look around online. :winkwink:

Hi Tessa,
It depends on what she means by treatment really. I imagine she might want to put you on some medication to even out the hormonal imbalance, but probably not while you're TTC.
If however you are anovulatory or have irregular cycles because of your PCOS, then you might need treatment for that, in order to become pregnant.
The treatment in that case is likely to be clomid or metformin, to stimulate your ovaries and regulate your cycle. So as I said, it depends on what she means by treatment.
I'd go in and have another chat with her. I'm not sure what the surgical option would be - the only thing I can think is maybe she wants to do an exploratory lap?
Good luck! :flower:
