Hi all.

My first post, unfortunately has to be a possibly difficult question lol.

I had my DD 18 months ago by EMCS. First of all, what's the consensus of when is safe to try again? And secondly, did anyone in a similar situation have a check with their GP before trying again? Is it completely necessary? My incission is completely healed and apart from a bit of skin sensitivity in my tummy area, I have no issues (if you can call that an issue lol)

They like you to give it a year if possible so at 18 months you are fine. We started trying around 19/20 months and I fell pregnant at 22 months post section. I never saw gp and I don't think it's necessary. I had a straightforward second pregnancy and a vbac. No problems with my scar at any point. Good luck x

Hey, I had a emcs 9 months ago. My MW told me that at 6 months I'm ok to go again, as I still have 7/8 months of the pregnancy where I'll be healing too. I think ita different for all women as some heal faster and some medical people say different things. I never went to the doctors, however, when I rang up today to get the ball rolling, they asked to see me Friday for a general health check...

I had a emcs with DS there was complications after, won't go into it but was told by my consultant to wait 2years but then ended up pregnant when ds was 9 months had no problems second csection was perfect.

Thanks for your replies ladies. We're going to go for it!! Took my last pill on Monday and having some lovely afternoon cramps so hopefully we'll be well on our way to lots of being next week!!

My first was a emcs baby. when he was 6 weeks we asked my doctor if we could start trying again when DS1 was 3 months as it took 2 years to fall with him. We were given the ok, so when he was 3 months we started trying for baby number 2. Never thought for a second it would happen first time. Even with fallen pregnant again so quickly after having a section I've had no problems with my scar other then a bit of itchiness. I have also been given a 74% chance of having a success VBAC if I wished to go down that route. I've been the risk of rupture is less then 1%.

THATS EXCELLENT NEWS !!! Hope it all goes to plan MummyM86!!! So happy for you

I'd Be so scared of trying for a vbac. Pathetic as this sounds I was so proud of myself for labouring for 30 hours on just gas and air and a touch of diamorphine that when it ended in emcs it just broke me. I didn't think I'd cope as well as I did. I was mentally and physically a mess after it happened due to blood loss too. I hope I can just opt for a csec and go in with it planned and it be much more controlled and organised. Does that sound like a terrible thing??

doesn't sound terrible to me. To be honest the whole idea of VBAC scares me, i'll be worried the whole time that it would just end up in another section.
They can't force you to do something you don't want to. I've been at the end of the day it's my decision. I would have thought the same would apply to anyone who's had a previous section.
at them moment I want another section even though I too lost a lot of blood, my hubby tells me they were starting to get the blood ready for a transfusion, luckily it didn't come to that.
