hi ladys,

Well my partner and i have been ttc for almost two years. I had conoscopy and letz in novemer last year when they found the begining of cervical cancer, i had a cone biopsy in feb this year. just wondering if anyone eles out there has had a similar experience? did you have problems conceving? Oh and just to top it off I'm AB- and my partner is a + blood type and i hear that can also effect chances of having a baby. any thoughts or storys would be a great help, thanks

Hi charlie. I didn't have the same but the biopsy after my hysterscopy came back as atypical so pre-cancerous. I go in a few weeks to find out if the treament works and we can ttc. I know how it can be juggling lttc and worrying baout your own health separate to that.

What did the dr say after the biopsy? I'm sure if they gave you the all clear you'll be ok.

they said it the op went well but that i would still have to have a hysterectomy in 3 years. they wanted to do it then to lesson any chance of it coming back but as i want to have a baby they did the cone for now. Waiting for my appt in august for check up. im hoping its all going to be ok but ive read that the cone can leave scar tissue making it hard for sperm to get in. Did they say anything to you about it being hard after to get pregnant?

Hopefully if they said it went well that meant no scarring but best to ask at your next appointment. You know you don't have to have anything done you don't agree to, though I'd say doctors advice should be taken pretty seriously. Find out about the long term risks at the next one and make an informed decision, though when it comes to babies heart usually wins over head!

For me I think if the cells have reverted back to normal my risk goes down but it's caused by the fact I don't ovulate so I'll probably have to always be on BC if not ttc. Because the atypical hyperplasia is pre-cancerous if I was past baby making stage I'd have been a candidate for a hysterectomy as it gives me a 1/4 chance of endometrial cancer. To be honest I'm not even sure if they'll want me to have a hysterectomy anyway once (please God) I've had all my babies if I'm higher risk. I was too upset at the last appointment to ask. Argh just so many possibilities. Just over 2 weeks though until I find out.

It is possible to get pregnant, but it is more difficult. The cone biopsy will have removed a large part of your cervix, as well as as some of the glands that produce EWCM. I have been told to use a lot more lubricant, like conceive plus, to ensure there is a nice cosy environment for the sperm to get through.

I've had much more extensive surgery for cervical cancer, and in theory it would still be possible to get pregnant naturally, but the FS said it would be unlikely as we had been TTC'ing for two years anyway without success. There can be problems with narrowing of the cervix from scar tissue, as well as lack of cervical fluid, and for us combined with existing problems it is off to IVF we go!

Good luck to us both.
