Just wondered if anyone is the same as me on here.

OH and myself have started out TTC project on Xmas day, i am under a consultant for PCOS for 10yrs who advised me to have blood tests during my cycle to check ovulation.
I advised that I am not the the usual 28day cycle lady and mine usually works to a 30 - 40 day cycle. (i'm wired up wrong according to my OH)
So i had my blood test a few weeks ago and today called my GP's for the result and guess what they said i am showing NO SIGN of Ovulation.
So as you can imagine, the tear ducts started to fill.

No when i spoke to my consultant i said that my cycles ran for me usually 30 - 40days and that would the 21day test not be right for me.
She said that she had taken into consideration what i'd said however i was to be tested day 21.

My GP called me back a while ago and said that my consultant hasnt advised my GP with my concern hence sending forms for 21 days.

So now i've to go again to the Blood Sucking place and be tested tomorrow.

Can i just ask, does anyone else have periods that dont follow the 'usual' 28day cycle and if anyone else has a consultant that acutally doesnt pay attention to they patients????

hi what a nightmare doctors are sometimes!! I got bloods done to check if i was ovulating a couple of months ago and got tested on day 21...However since coming off bcp my cycles are very irregular my af turned up on day 24 that month! The tests said i was ovulating but she said my progesterone was lower than it should be. I told her my af came 3 days after the test and would that have effected it. She said it could maybe have been that so im getting the bloods done again. Last cycle was 21 and this one was 30 so its hard to tell when to get it done lol!

It might take a couple of times for you aswell to get it done at the right time! Good luck!

Good luck getting your blood tested again :hugs: I have irregular cycles so I know how you feel in that regard :( My last cycle was 46 days...and the one before that was 32 days...Try not to get upset and wait and see if they can get more data to really test and see what is going on.

Mine are also between 33 and 45 days. This is our 3rd month of properly trying though so I have not been to my GP yet. I am hoping that irregular cycles doesn't mean there is anything wrong. Good luck with trying!

Thank you all for your replies

Its a mind field this TTC Lark Its horrible in away too that all my friends and brothers other half all fell by Surprise/Accident. Non was planed. And its so frustrating that people can just have it happen by chance and then theres all of us trying like mad people to do it at the right time, tests and goodness knows what hee hee, thou they do say Practice makes perfect xx

well blood test done - mini rant why do people that are over 60 go and have their tests done, when people like me have to go straight to work lol

I turned up at the centre at 7.50 it opens at 8 and the blood sucking starts at 8.30 and do you know there was 7 oap's in front of me.....
i wish and this may sound cruel that they go after 10.30 when workers can wont be held up by the people that have a 7day weekend

sorry Rant over - arm like a pin cushion

How long would you wait if you had irregular cycles to go see a dr?

I'd go straight away, have you spoken to your GP re them being irregular?
Its would be a good idea to go and see them and explain your cycle and that your trying etc.
They should send you for tests re ovulation and then go from there
hope that helps

When i had tests dont for ovulation they did it on cd21, cd28 and if no af on cd35 aswell (i didnt need the cd35 one)
