Hello Everyone
I am new to this forum and I would like to say a big hello to everyone.
Well me and my husband have been TTC desperately for a baby for the last 6 years with no success. Here's my story:
Back in 2006 after being together for 2 years we decided to TTC for a baby, so months went by and nothing, 2 years went by and nothing, but at this point we didn't do anything about it as we thought it was just one of those things and plus we was always stressed from our jobs as well. Then after 4 years of TTC we thought we would go to the doctors to see what was going on. Well I went first and my lovely doctor asked me if I have a regular period and how long for etc...the usual things they ask you and everything seemed fine with me, just needed to loose a couple of stones in weight. Then she asked for my husband to come and see her and sent him for a sperm test at the hospital, in which we got his results a week later to reveal he had a very low sperm count, is first sperm test result was 1.2 per million....Well at that point she sent us to the fertility clinic thinking we would be allowed up to 2 ICSI/IVF treatments for the area we live in on the NHS for free, because we haven't got any other children. we got our appointment after nearly 6 months of waiting, which by then we was in our 5th year of TTC. After we got our appointment, we went and came out very tearful as we was told by the consultant that we could not have the treatment because of my weight and also I have a higher risk of miscarriage than average people and that was it. So we was in total shock and i went into meltdown, where I went down hill and have depression....
It has been nearly 1 year since we got told the news and I have lost 3 stones in weight and my husband has changed his lifestyle like wearing loose fitting boxers etc... His last sperm test was ready at 1 per million, in which everything else is normal. The doctors can't see what is causing it as it is not genetic, nothing wrong with glands or anything else. They have told him to loose a stone or 2, but he is trying his best but its not budging lol
I am so desperate for a baby now and I feel there is no support out there for people in my situation and perhaps for other women in my situation as well.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Has any conceived naturally from a very low sperm count? Any advice?
Many thanks for reading and listing to this
