TTC right off BC

My OH and I after many months have decided to ttc this month..I've finished my last pack of pills and am almost done AF. I'm really excited, and a wee bit anxious, but I'm not sure it's going to happen right away... I have patience but I'm worried that if it doesn't happen within a few months I'm going to go crazy! lol...

I've done some research of getting prego straight off BC and i got a lot of mixed info on how long it will take, of course it depends on the person.. but has anyone else here gotten prego within that first cycle off BC?

I know a few people who have just missed 2-3 pills on BC and got pregnant and a few who took many months. I think it depends on how long it takes for you cycle to go back to normal. I also think it depends on how long you were on them for.

I was on Alesse for 3 and a half years.. I believe it's one of the lowest dosage pills, if that matters?

It varies greatly from person to person unfortunately. Yes some women do get pregnant immediately off the pill, for others it takes a while for the pills to work out of their system. Keep in mind that most people, even those who weren't on BCP prior to TTC, don't get pregnant immediately.

I never understand how the pill works to be honest when you come off them. I was on them for almost 2 years, missed one last month for the first time ever and never thought it would be a problem and carried on taking the rest as usual, a month later... I was pregnant!
But like the others said, it depends how lucky you are.
When my cousin came off the pill so her and her husband could conceive, it took 3 months which isn't too long I suppose

i agree. i have known people who miss 1 day and got pregnant! im sure it has everything to do with your body and how it handles it. good luck

I Was on antibiotics so it cancelled out my pill and I caught..!

I stopped taking my pills a while ago because i ran out and my cycles were completely regular and lasted 28days straight away. But i wasn't trying to get pregnant so i wouldn't know about that aspect, i just know that i returned back to my old cycle straight away.

Well, I'm officially 4 days off BC. I stopped smoking, which is going well. I have been fighting the urge! I had a bit of spotting the second day off the pill, I'm guessing this is normal? I also felt really sick to my stomach the last few days, im guessing its from being off BC after being on it for years. Has anyone one else felt a little nervous right before officially TTC? This isn't something i've shared with my OH but I'm feeling a lot of emotions. But not doubting the decision.

I remeber stopping my pills in april and fell preggo in may i was super shocked, but im gld it happened i was thinking of going on fertility drugs!

im in exactly the same situation. me and my OH have decided to TTC, i stopped taking the pill 2 weeks ago and my OH has stopped smoking. i have felt VERY wierd after stopping taking them. ive felt sick, been off my food, had incredible mood swings and generally feeling nervous about the hole thing. i am not doubting our decision to TTC but ive jst felt so emotional about it all. im very excited but also very nervous!

It's nice to know others feel the same way! Although no one wants to feel sick lol. It's weird, at the same time I usually take my BC it's like my body is signaling me that it's time to take it even now. But the whole nervousness thing, maybe it's because we are realizing that it's really happening after so much planning/talking about it. It's a good nervousness though.

think it depends person to person, a friend of mine fell whilst on the pill no missed tablets and then recently she came off the pill and the follwoing month fell pregnant!
think the best think to do is have an open mind about it all and aware of the prospect it could happen straight away or take a while, either way its loads of fun!!!

Hi,

I don't think it was any one reason that made us decide that it was time to TTC... I think it just felt right for both of us.. Even though we are both young, we have been living together for a while now and I feel like we are married anyways! ha. But honestly, a year ago the last thing I wanted was a child, now it's all I can think about. And when I brought it up (first jokingly) to my OH, I was surprised to find out that the thought didn't scare him! Then we started talking more seriously about it, and he wants the same things as I do. So we waited a few months until we felt like we were really ready, and here we are!

I think like the others have said it really varies from person to person, i expected it take a few months to get pregnant after being on BC for nearly 10years. How wrong was i think from my last pill it took about 20days until i was pregnant!!

I missed one pill, the condom broke so i said *just to be on the safe side* Id get the morning after pill....... Im due in 6 weeks
