Hey guys

Was recently told taking vitex and folic acid are good for TTC any advice? anyone actually used this method? I bought it and have just came off my AF. I also heard vitex is used to help concieve twins (which is not my intention), my periods are not exactly regular so cant really chart this is where i got the advice of using this.

xx

Vitex totally messed my cycles up, and pushed my ovulation back. I would avoid like the plague.

Go and see a dr if you are irregular and check that you are actually ovulating rather than self medicating!

I have never actually posted anything on the internet like this and didn't think I ever would. However, I have recently been doing some research on Vitex, irregular periods and infertility and forums like this one seemed to be what helped me the most so I feel it is my duty to maybe help someone else in their search. BTW this is probably going to be very long.

Let me start by saying that today is the eighth of January, 2011.

I am twenty-two years old and have a history of trying many different birthcontrols with none being a good fit. I was not sexually active when I first started birthcontrol, I was taking it for my irregular period. My latest method of birthcontrol was the Implanon implant (which is a horror story in itself). I got off the pill sometime around August or September of 2009 and didn't have a period. I was told this was due to the fact that the hormones where still in my system and it would work itself out. May of 2010 I got my first AF and that was the last one I have had. UNTIL TODAY!

Anyway, after not having AF for six more months I decided to take matters into my own hand. My boyfriend of three years and I had recently decided that sometime in the near future we wanted a child and were concerned with my lack of menstration. I did some research and came upon a website for Vitex.

I started taking it on December 10, 2010 and around the twenty-seventh I started getting PMS or pregnancy symptoms. I still hadn't had AF so I was pretty sure I wasn't pregnant but I took a test to make sure. My symptoms started with very tender nipples for about a week or a little more and then my left breast became astonishingly sore and began to grow. Finally after about another week my right breast caught up and became sore aswell. I started to get aggrivated because I was having all these...isssues...and nothing seemed to be happening. Well this morning I woke up and went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was AF!

After almost a year of no menstration taking Vitex for less than a month brought it back! I am very happy because this means I can start charting my BBT and hopefully know if I am ovulating or not.

I WOULD RECOMMEND VITEX TO EVERY WOMAN TRYING TO STABALIZE MENSTRATION OR INCREASE FERTILITY.

I have just started taking Vitex Agnus Castus - I am on cd39 with no sign on ovulation. This is my 3rd cycle off the pill - 1st cycle was 37 days, last one was 39 days. I'm hoping Vitex regulates my period so we can at least start trying - I'm 33 and am running out of time!

similar story for me, came off the pill in September, decided to start taking Vites Agnus Castus after reading up research articles via google scholar. I was sceptical at 1st but the published works I read showed it to be safe and effective for regulating irregular cycles, so decided no harm.

Started my 1st AF on Friday, 1 week after starting to take the vitex! Not sure if it would have happened anyway, but I'm happy I can at least start charting now, and I'm going to take it up until ovulation, then start again if AF arrives!

The only thing I'm still not sure on is dose, I thought the recommended 4 capsules a day sounded like a lot, but that it what I'm currently taking. As I said though, I've decided only to take it up to ovulation.

I would recommend Vitex, it worked first month to improve my luteal phase, and now second month has brought ovulation forward by another 2 days, not sure what my LP will be though as it may bring AF forward though it didnt last month, was bang on my 34 days making my lp 15 days! Good luck to all the vitex ladies x p.s Heres_hoping I'm taking the 4 x 400mg per day too x

Heres_Hoping, when I started taking Vitex I started out taking three of the 400mg a day; one morning, noon and night. After about a week I began just taking one in the morning and one at night. In everything I've read it says to take about 1000mg a day so I only took 800mg because I figured a little less is probably safer than a little more. :)

Hi, I have been taking Vitex for a week now for my irregular cycles and spotting. I have to say it does help with your hormones but has made a little moody. I have been getting some reaction for my ovaries little cramping wihich I have not gotten in months. Waiting to see if I will get a period this month or ovulate but so far I dont have any complaints. Dosage: 2 times a day (400 mg each pill) :flower:

Im irregular, I've been researching everywhere on methods to regulate my period, I've went to the dr n she made me feel bad telling me i was too you to want to conceive, i mean i make my own decision her thoughts didn't get to me so she didn't want to send me to obgyn until 2yrs of not conceiving, i was on the pill for 3 months only to regulate my period, i got my period for the 3 months n 1 month after i stopped with the pills, & i haven't gotten a period in 5 months now =[ it really sucks cause it makes me feel less of a women, and my fiancée really wants a baby and so so i, i want to be a mother so bad but its not happening. therefore i should start by regulating my period first .. i needed HheeeeELP. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP !

I know this is an old thread but wanted to bring it back.

I have been taking for almost 7 months now Vitex got me pregnant after 5 months I'm still taking it in the hopes of getting pregnant again. Fx to everyone that is taking Vitex. it works wonders.

Hi - glad you posted this as I bought some Vitex last week in the hope that it might regulate my cycles and start ovulating but read online that it can do more harm than good. How did it help you (other than you getting a BFP!!)?

Thanks

xx
