I am 20 years old. My husband and I have been married since I was 18. Since marriage we have been ttc the entire two years and I have not been pregnant once. I recently had a vaginal ultrasound which showed I have PCOS. I got put on provera to make my period start and metformin to help regulate things. I am just curious if metformin alone would help me ovulate? I'm also wondering if anyone else has taken metformin and gotten pregnant quickly? I want a baby so bad and I feel this is the last little bit of hope I have:(

I'm in the exact same situation as you and I start Metformin tomorrow (FX'd). I've read some information on it but I'll be following this forum to get help too and I'll give you updates on how it works for me! :)

Brookettc i'm sorry your having this struggle :( My docs put me on metformin unfortunately no its not a fast working medication. It works by trying to help regulate your hormones in your body so that you ovulate. How long are you cycles usually?

I took that for 3 months, and my 3rd cycle on it i actually was regular. Then did a round of clomid and got pregnant. Unfortunately had a MC at 8 weeks but not because of having PCOS.

It sounds silly but you are not alone, and talking to others going through it can really help. I hope it doesn't take too much longer until you get your bfp!!

Hi Brookettc. I just popped over to this thread but wanted to wish you luck and share my story. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with my first child. Like you, I have PCOS. I started with Metformin which did make me ovulate regularly. For some women this is enough, but unfortunately not all. I ended up taking clomid after 6 cycles of Metformin alone. On my 3 cycle of clomid, I was successful. I know it is a long and exhausting journey both physically and mentally but keep your chin up! If you ever have any questions or just need some support, feel free to reach out :)

Hello! I can completely sympathize with you, as I was also diagnosed with PCOS last week, because of high testosterone. My doctor prescribed me Provera since I have not had a cycle since June. I'll be finished with it on Friday and am supposed to experience a forced cycle within the next two weeks.

Someone in my family also struggled with conceiving and was diagnosed with PCOS. She was given Metformin and that regulated her cycle. Soon afterward, she was blessed with a beautiful baby girl! A few years after her daughter was born, she became pregnant with a beautiful baby boy, while actually trying to prevent and she wasn't on any sort of fertility medication. I am happy to say that both of her pregnancies and children are perfectly healthy!

When I first received my PCOS diagnosis, I was completely devastated and convinced that I would never have children. I am still heartbroken, but we cannot give up! There is always hope and I will be thinking of you!
