I hope I am in the right place - has anyone had a tube scan with the dye? I am petrified  I am due for it in July.
Can anyone advise me? Is it OK? I would be sooooo grateful for any words of wisdom etc. Thank you

I would take some Tylenol AND some Advil (they are different types of drugs so it is OK to mix them). It is one of those things where some women say it is like a PAP and other's feel quite a bit of discomfort. I felt alot of pain, but I forgot to take the drugs, and they couldn't get the dialator thing in. But, it is quick and I walked out of there on my own...and you will too. Just think...we are doing this so that we can one day experience labour...something MUCH more painful! You'll do fine!

I haven't had one of those, but like Jasmak said, you'll be ok. It's always frightening to have anything along the lines of surgery. I have to have a Lap and Dye test in August, but I will be completely under anasthetic for that. :hugs:

Hi honey,

Obviously people have different experiences but it was absolutely fine when I had mine done. Are you in the UK? I don't know if the process differs in the US but it was just like having a smear test. I had very very slight cramping when the dye went in but nothing major and whilst having a smear test isn't something that you'd volunteer to have daily, it really isn't anything to worry about.

To be honest I think the more you worry about it the more tense you'll be when you go in for it and the more likely it is that you'll find it painful because you'll be so tense. It really is nothing to worry about so try and relax (a lot easier said than done I know!).

I hope your experience is closer to mine than to some of the other ladies who had a bad experience :hugs:

xxxxxxx

My gynaecologist forgot to pre-warn me that it could be sore and when I turned up at the appointment the nurse commented that 'this can be painful you know'. At that moment my heart skipped a beat and I panicked but I got through it. I'd definately recommend painkillers beforehand. It was painful for me but like the rest say it only lasts a couple of mins, probably sore for me as I wasn't prepared and I walked out of there, in shock but walked out lol.

Try and not get yourself too worked up, if your body's relaxed the procedure will probably be easier too. Also try rescue remedy to keep those nerves down, it works for me.

Iv got mine end of this month /begining of next depending when af decides to show up so im hoping its not too bad.
Hubby says he wants front row seats to see the monitor, weirdo :)

You hubby is funny! At least he'll be there to hold your hand though. Mine's on 3rd July. But it looks like I am gonna have to postpone it as I am CD23 and am OV NOW??!! I know, wierd eh! Having the strangest cycle this month.
Good luck hun :hugs:

wow twins! Congrats! Do you think the test helped 'clear' your tubes out - i have heard it can help to do that and offer a better chance when TTC?
Thank you for your advice :-)

erm well it ended in complete disaster with a hetrotropic pregnancy and i lost a tube so i don't really know to be honest.
they advise you not to try after the test cos of the dye and radiation but i did anyway they said it shouldn't have any adverse effects if i were to fall and i am not blaming that for the twins but it did all happen within weeks.

Blimey! What is a hetrotropic pregnancy? Sounds awful. So it caused more damage than good???

Hey hun

I had this done end of last year and it was fine.
I was really nervous - i wasn't allowed to take any meds/pain killers before hand and to be honest, didn't need them.
The consultant was awesome - took her time to explain everything and i did a pregnancy test and signed a disclaimer before going into the x-ray room.
My advice to you would be to practice deep breathing - like yoga. When you are lying on the table breath in through your nose, out through your mouth and relax everything - your legs, your arms - just flop. If you are relaxed and you aren't tense then it makes everything easier. It's just like having a smear - not pleasant but not painful.
When they have finished you might have light spotting but i went home, had a couple of painkillers and a nice hot bath so i felt human again and i was fine.

You'll be okay :hugs:

no it's really bad it's like an ectopic but also with a normal IU pregnancy as well so the ectopic had to be removed along with my tube and caused me to miscarry the other baby

I am so sorry. That's terrible. I would have gone mad at them for that. You should have sued them. Thank you for sharing that with me. xxxx

it's no ones fault just one of those things. If i hadn't had the ectopic one removed i could have died if it had been left to develop further and rupture it was already a fair size at 7 and half weeks for a tube that is only 2mm thick!
