I’ve just had a follow up vaginal scan from Monday.

They found a yolk sac and a smaller yolk sac in the same sac. I have to go back next week to double check it’s twins but she said it’s very common that the smaller yolk will not be there next time.

Has anyone got any experience of this?

"Vanishing twins" is a very common finding in early ultrasounds. The increasing frequency of early scans is is revealing that twin/multiple pregnancies are more common than previously realised, but for unknown reasons, probably non viability for whatever reason, within a few weeks one of the babies has vanished, most likely absorbed into our bodies in order to give the other baby the best chances of survival. It's very sad but also incredible to think about what our bodies are capable of.

I did read up on that and I think that may be the case.
Thanks for that information
