type 1 diabetic and needing someone to talk to!

I will let you know how I get on with him, and my obstetrician is rather high rate and from the times that I have seen her she comes across as someone who doesn't like her decisions questioned, Ive seriously thought of asking for someone else to be honest but we shall see what the ophthalmologist has to say. Will keep you updated, thanks for your response, I felt awful about it as though I wasn't thinking about babys welfare and only my eyes, obviously my baby does come first but I just think there is other factors to consider too.

No worries - As I say, if she doesn't explain it then she's not doing her job properly!

I've already had this argument with an on-call doctor who came in to prescribe anti-sickness meds, needless to say - she will no longer be dealing with my care and I can't say that I'm disappointed.

Good luck tomorrow! :hugs:

So seen the ophthalmologist this morning, and he has decided to do some laser on the eye that has new vessels to see if he can curb them now rather than later.
From what he told me its a case of he has to work around me taking the aspirin but has assured me that there are solutions if the aspirin does cause a bleed
I think I will be opting for a csection though so I don't put any more pressure on the back of my eyes during labour.

Seems like a rock and hard place situation... but at least you have a treatment plan in place and they're active with it.

I hadn't even thought about the strain of labour on my eyes - I was thinking more of the immediate pain - as you do.

Good luck with the laser and keep us updated on how you get on! :hugs:

Its more if you have got new blood vessels there from what he said, because they are so brittle and small the pressure from pushing can cause them to ruptue and cause the bleed, but like he said, its all ifs and buts to take into consideration and decide what's best.......so difficult, I had a c-section before and I was kinda hoping to get away with a vbac this time simply for the recovery time to be quicker to be honest but if it means saving stress on my eyes then on the grand scale of things it has to be an elcs :)

Thanks - I think my issue is more the marks on the back of my eyes from previous bleeds and not new vessels forming.

I'm just looking at the whole labour issue - Have already began to save articles that I find supporting my wishes for non-continuous fetal monitoring and non-induction of labour - I feel as though I'm going to have a battle on my hands tbh. But I've read that inductions lead to a higher rate of sections because the body is just not ready for birth plus, I'm naturally a person who walks and moves about when in pain - so it makes sense for me to be able to move during labour.

This will be my first, so I don't want to be wheeled in for a section after a failed induction. I just feel as though I was made with a hole specifically for the function of giving birth (and of course for conceiving!:winkwink:) which doesn't have as much risk of being infected at the end of it all and if I can avoid a hole being cut into my abdomen, then I will. If only so that I can start to look after my baby quicker.

Of course I know that the baby's health is paramount and I'm not judging anyone who choses to give birth via C-section as it's all a matter of the circumstances of birth and personal preference.

Does anyone here have any experience with the whole avoiding induction and CFM issue?

Had my laser treatment today, was a little sore tbh.....although I'm sure people have more than I did today, got a terrible headache and my eye is watering like mad, not sure if thats normal after so much laser?
Anyway gotta go back end of jan to see if the other needs doing and to have a look at how this one has gone, fingers crossed it will be sufficient enough to get me through the rest of my pregnancy without too much more damage :flower:

Didn't want to read and run.

I've not had any treatment on my eyes yet, though I'm sure its only a matter of time, so I can't really comment on what you're going through.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
