UK ladies - charge for ultrasound pictures?

My hospital charges £2.00 per photo, it told me on the scan letter... so perhaps if it doesnt mention it on the letter, its free??

Mine were £2 in Sheffield and £3 in Staffordshire (I changed care at 24 weeks) x

Mine charge £5 per picture which I think is a bit much really but we'll still get one for each of the relatives, works out about £40 but it's the first one (scan and baby) and really special so worth it.

xx

didnt mention price in letter for me as no letter had to call and book scan my self lol i got one pic for free and then above the bit where u say who u are and wot time yr appointment is it states if u wud like a scan pic we ask for donations of 2.00 or more

Our hospital charge £5 per picture and you can only have a maximum of 4 pictures
x

I didn't think about there being a maximum number, maybe us having 8 pictures is out then  lol.

xx

:D if we have to pay for them then I can't see that they should be giving a maximum :flower:

I'm surprised everyone's seem to be so low apart from in Oxfordshire!! Grrr! £10 seems a lot...i'll be furious if we only get 1 picture!!

£10 is a shocking price, but the know they can get away with it because people will want pictures so will pay it. It's a huge amount though and sneaky too as they are cashing in on people who they know will pay.

xx

At Kingston hospital I seem to remember it was £3 for 2 pictures - and you didn't have the choice of getting any more or any less than that.

Payment was done at a sort of stamp machine, so you def had to have change.

Also worth mentioning that although we only had our yellow stamp for 2 pics, we actually got given four - without even asking.

Totally depends on the hospital and the technician doing the scan as to what you get!

Its ridiculous really. I think you should at least get 1 pic for free. We have to pay the £5 per pic up front in reception as well and then take the receipt to the scan with us. I think im going to be scanning the pics i buy and then emailing them on to friends n family (Well, I'll buy 3 of them anyway) :)

OP - how did your scan go? xx

Well, had my scan this afternoon and it went really well! Baby was bouncing and waving at us :) The sign on the wall said pictures were £5 for 1 or £10 for 3, but in the end they never asked us for anything, not even a donation, so not sure what that was about!! They dated me earlier in the pregnancy than my period dating did (due date is now 16th April not 10th), but I don't mind, I'm just relieved everything looks ok with bubs!! I need to update my tickers at some point, though :)

Thanks for all your replies, guys - knowing to take a few pounds extra in cash meant we didn't stress when we saw the sign, which we would have done otherwise!

P.S. This is bubs...
