Hi All

Just found out I'm pregnant (4 weeks)

When should I go to see the doc to let them know?

I went straight away and then of you're in UK they should tell you to see midwife around 8 - 10 wks

Congratulations!!

Congratulations on your bfp! :flower: I rang the Doctor's a few days after finding out.. I had a booking-in appointment at 5 weeks, and they made me a midwife appointment for next Thursday (8 weeks based on my lmp, or 7+3 based on my ovulation date!) xx

i went the nxt day after faint positive hpt and was given a blood test then again three days later and i now have another appointment monday so i seem to be there all the time at the moment

yeah i called a few days after i had my bfp (@ 4 weeks), then it was a fair while to get an appt (i'll be 7 +5)

did the same last time but my gp forgot to refer me so i ended up not seeing a midwife at all until 12+3! so my scan was about 13+2. i'm seeing a different doctor this time...

Yeah its best to see them soon really so you can get your booking in appt made for 8 to 10 weeks - I made mine yesterday and couldn't get a booking in until 29th Feb! Must have been lots of baby making going on over New Year :haha:

its impossible to get through to my drs, I spoke to a fried and she said to refer yourselves direct to the midwife unit at our local hosipital so I did that online. They will get back to me in 10 days with booking in appt...I waited until 6 weeks as the Drs here dont usually want to know until 8ish weeks.

Counting down the weeks to first scan

I went to dr at 4w5d. Had a pre booking in the next day and then 3 days later got my letter from the hospital with booking in appt and scan date. I did tell them I was a bit further gone than I really am though so I could get an earlier scan :haha:

I was surprised at how quickly I heard from the hospital as with my daughter I didn't have my booking in appt until 16 weeks.

In many areas it is not necessary to waste your time with a GP appointment - the GP doesn't do anything anyway and has nothing useful to tell you usually.

Go to the doctors surgery, tell the receptionist that you are newly pregnant and need to arrange a booking in appointment with the midwife. She will either pass on your details or give you the number of the community midwife's office. Usually booking in is around 8 weeks.

wss i went stright to the surgery and just booked stright in with the mw i couldnt get in until 10+ weeks and i dont get my first scan till 13+ weeks so go sooner rather than later.xxx

I went to see doc and it was a waste of time as he said there was no point in seeing him and I should just book an app. with midwife. Saw midwife at about 9 weeks. x

I had an appointment with my doctor at 5 weeks to let them know he prescribed folic acid and made an appointment for me with the midwife which is in a few days I'll be 7+5 when I go! It was either be seen for my booking appointment slightly early or wait until 10 weeks as the weeks inbetween were fully booked! So definately must've been a lot of baby making going on over the festive period!! :haha:
Due to my history I will probably be referred for an early scan when I see my midwife next week.
Congrats on your pregnancy :hugs:
