I was induced on Wednesday and was told because they were inducing I didn't need to be in active labour to have epidural I could have it whenever I liked. The doctors do like u to feel some contractions first though my midwife agreed that once I was contracting regularly 3/4 in 10 mins I could get it and right on que 3 hours in I got it
the doctor actually said he feels women always leave getting it far too late which makes the whole process more traumatic and less safe for everyone. I had a great experience and a fantastic midwife.
I did say from the outset I wanted the epidural though, I didn't have any other pain relief, for me I can't think of anything worse than being high as a kite whilst giving birth, I wanted to remember everything!!
Good luck you will be great whatever you decide
