Hey ladies! I was wondering if anyone else's doctor orderes 30 week ultrasounds just because. At my appt yesterday, my doctor said "okay, I see no problems. Great! Now, let's get you in for the 30 week ultrasound." I was kind of confused. I did have a later ultrasound with my first, but only because I moved from NC to TX at 28 weeks. I've been with this practice this entire pregnancy. Don't get me wrong, Im really excited to see my sweet baby at 30 weeks! And this ultrasound place has 3D/4D, so it is going to be so neat! But, I didn't know that some doctors did the later ultrasounds just because. Anyone else in the same boat?

Same story here, it is common practice for some doctors, in EU and US. I had a scan in 30 weeks and now another for 35-36 weeks. They want to see several things, how well the blood flow is from mama to baby in arteries, umbilical cord, heart, the maturity of the placenta, growth measurements (head circumference and weight), position, water in the sack, movement etc.
The next one on 36 weeks is for more or less the same reasons, but I think the focus is on position and size of the baby, as 37 weeks is considered term.

I had one at 27 weeks for no real reason and i'll be getting one more before delivery.

^ Yep we are, it really puts my mind at ease whenever I know the next U/S is up, I will see my baby on the screen and a professional will be giving me valid info on his well being :)
Plus I love the U/S pictures, the more the better! <3
