United States Frustration

The medical system here is indeed very frustrating. I am not taking a side here (simply because I don't argue anything political on forums lol). I am going to share a link. This isn't representing my opinion and I am sharing it because I have seen people say here they don't understand why anyone is against it do this is just to help with understanding:

Thanks for the link!
As far as the cons go, I'm opening up a new business (impeccable timing with the timing of the pregnancy, I know). I won't be affected by the mandate because I'll have under 50 full time employees (two part time employees count as 1 full time employee). But, I also know there is a tax credit for small business to help them with the cost as well as other wiggle room in regards to the new legislation if they do have 50+ employees. (opposed to what would happen if I lived under Romneycare because I might have 11+ employees within the next 5 years)
I think each pro and con has a pro and con, too, lol! And a whole lot of backstory and possibility for change of it, as well.

You are right lol every pro and con has their own pro and con. Nothing is every going to be perfect but we can hope for improvement and educated opinions whichever way they lean.
Good luck with your business!

Another Canadian here, and I get extended health paid by my work benefits. I go to the doctor, specialist, hospital, dentist, prescriptions, eye doctor, glasses, contacts, blood work, ultrasounds, x-rays...whatever doctor I choose, whatever hospital I choose...second, third, fourth...however many opinions I want....and it is FREE. I pay my taxes, I work hard, and my family gets quality care...and so does someone who is on benefits...and why shouldn't they?

Yeh, I usually stay right away from political debates in forums because they are mostly full of poorly read people with a low level of education, but I have to restate that anyone who is opposed to a change with the US system is nuts...what you have now is ludicrous for a country that calls itself "first world", and any step toward universal health care is a good thing. I read somewhere on this forum that one poor girl had a MC and it cost her $25k in bills...that's crazy. I really hope you all get past the "it's raising my taxes! I'm paying for things I don't use! It's raising premiums!" ideas because trust me, living in a country that has all those things and a quality health care system to trade it all off is worth it's weight not in gold, but in LIVES. I don't worry about broken bones or accidents (well, I do, but only for my body!) because I know my treatment in an emergency will be FREE. My life (and my kids lives) are worth more than taxes.

Jus' sayin'...!

To the post before mine, I have to say that is very incorrect. I have a different view from you, but I am far from uneducated. I am also working on my doctorate degree.

That is not what she said. She said usually political debates on forums are full of poorly read, low educated people, not people who have an opposing view to her. Although she did call people with an opposing view nuts :haha:

As for the OP, I 100% agree with you. I was doing some research on stillbirth statistics just about two weeks ago now, and I was disgusted to find that in America you are twice as likely to have a stillbirth if you are from a low income family, or are black. It makes me feel sick to think that their risks and chances are so much greater just because of their social class (I guess) or their race. It should not be like this, in a first world country in 2012.

Obviously that is stillbirths, but I imagine it is not alone in the increasing chances.

I've read that, too :nope: there was an article about it recently in (I think) cosmo magazine. Its terrible.

This is what I want to know: what about the people who make just a little too much to qualify for things like Medicaid, but do not make nearly enough to pay the high heath insurance premiums through their work? That's the main problem I see and it might be why people do not like it. Does anyone know how that will be handled?

I know people who intentionally don't strive for better jobs because they'd lose their medicaid. It's so pathetic.
If you don't have medicaid and can't afford insurance via work you would be able to buy Health Care For America if I understand this correctly.

Yes, I have heard of people like that, but I don't think the majority of people are like that.

Thanks for the links! :flower:
