Hello ladies, in need some advice. I woke up a few hours ago no spotting and laid down and got back up a couple hours later. When I wiped I noticed a very little amount of very light brown discharge and my second wipe a very light orange tinged to my cm. I started thinking this is the time of month I would ovulate and I had that before pregnant. I am pretty much terrified I have read everything from normal to not normal online. I am trying to decide if this is something to worry about or not. I am also debating on whether to go to the ER to be checked and ask for a scan or if I should just ignore it. I don't want to worry anyone needlessly if its likely normal. Oh I am 6 weeks 1 day now and I do not have cramping.

Brown is probably nothing. Bright red is when the worry comes in. But if it continues beyond today I'd got tot he doctor or er just for your piece of mind.

Thank you,
Any idea what would cause brown spotting at 6 weeks? I put a liner on and checked it nothing in the past hour looks clear again.

Dont mean to sound crude, but i usually get this a day or so after sex, when i researched this it can be because your cervix softens during pregnancy, and therefore sex can cause small bleeds.
If its continues, i would ring your doctor

Thank you we havent had sex for 4-5 days but I have been checking my cm and also noticed my cervix is higher today and softer. Maybe I had a little bit of bleeding from checking my cervix I hope that is all it was. Didn't think that could happen but if it could happen from sex I am guessing it could probably happen for checking also. I should probably stop checking at this point. I checked cm when I wiped past few hours and there is no color to it anymore and I am not experiencing any cramps so hopefully that will be the end of it. If it reappears I will get it checked out. Thank you for your help :hugs:

Stop reading everything you see online, it only makes you stress out more. I had brown spotting at 6 weeks and it was alot. My baby is still in there with a strong heartbeat. Don't worry until you have a reason to such as heavy flow and really bad cramps. In my situation it was just old implantation bleed coming out. If it makes u feel better u could ring your doctor and tell them whats happening so they can advise you what to do. And stop checking your cervix, you could be irritating it and causing the bleed. Leave this up to the doctor. Good luck

Spotting is often okay and is very common. Your cervix softens and there is an increased blood flow down there, which can facilitate spotting. I have seen some spotting/reddish CM twice, both after sex, and it went away after that. It seems like youre doing the right thing - resting if you see it and then going on to live your life.

A good rule of thumb I think is that the time to consider worrying is when you have bleeding (not just spotting) and physical symptoms (cramps, backache), and even then women with those signs go on to have healthy pregnancies.

I had brown spotting at 6 weeks. It's implantation Hun. I spoke to a dr and can't 100% remember what he said but he said it was implantation. Baby starts getting snuggled down at 6 weeks. Xx

Just remembered! He said placenta attaches to womb at 6 weeks. Xx

I too had brownish spotting @ 6 weeks. It started with CM tinged orangey then graduated to full on brown spotting every time I went to the washroom. Never needed a pad so it wasn't heavy, but it continued on (tapering off by the end) for over a week.
My family doc and midwife both said its very common and nothing to worry about.

I had brown spotting from 3-5 weeks and then some more a little over 6 weeks. It gets shorter and lighter each time. I would not worry :)

I had spotting at 6 weeks also. Had a scan and everything was fine. They said they could see some blood in my uterus but it was nothing to worry about. I also had some more brown spotting last week (at 8 weeks) when I wiped. I've since spoken to my sister and a few other friends who said they had the same thing.

It's so hard not to worry, I have to tell myself to be calm all the time. Can't wait to get to my 12 week scan.

All the best.
xo

Update: I started spotting an orangish color last night and went to the er. It was light but bright enough to be disturbing. The good news is my cervix is closed, I have minimal to no cramping and my HCG levels though initially slow starting have gone from 231 to 11 days later 5749.9 which is doubling every 2.58 days which is all good. I have a cyst on my right ovary and from my blood count probably an Urinary tract infection which would explain some things. The bleeding the doctor could not explain however but when he did an internal exam he said it already look like it was brown not bright and that was an hour later after I noticed it. I am suppose to follow up with my OB today when they open. The ultrasound in the ER I am not sure what to think and thats scarey for me. They said its against their policy to allow patients to look at them. From what the Doctor told me the baby is in the uterus where its suppose to be but other than that he just kept saying its inconclusive because I am only six weeks and to follow up with my OB. He said something along the lines of it being too early to have a placenta yet. Does this make sense? Maybe I misunderstood but my husband thinks that is what he said also. I gather from the way he was talking they didn't see the actual baby because they likely think it is too early, I wonder if this is possible at 6 weeks. Well, I was discharged with a diagnoses of threatened miscarriage. The doctor said "you will be ok, its probably just early" and sent me on my way. Still scared at what will be seen at the OB when I follow up hopefully this will turn out ok. My HCG levels still rising is hopeful and the ER doctor said that also.

no, the placenta develops with the embryo and it attaches and keeps on growing but it isn't working until 10-12 weeks. that makes no sense whatsoever so im not sure why he said that but he isn't an obgyn so he was probably just trying to give you some answers. however, its not all bad news, i recommend talking to your obgyn and asking for a better ultrasound and they should be able to tell you whats going on. at 6 weeks u still dont see much more than a yolk sac inside the gestational sac and maybe even the hb but sometimes you don't see it then as embryo is so tiny. your hcg levels are very good, try to stay optimistic and let us know what your obgyn says. did you get a prescription for your uti? they should check your urine for that, not blood. good luck!

I did kind of get the sense that they were looking at a sac and that the Doctor wasn't sure completely what he was looking at because he wasn't an OB but felt it was too early to see some things. They actually did bloodwork and urine tests on me. The bloodwork indicated slight elevated numbers in counts that would imply infection and the urine specifically Leukocyte Esterase I believe it was called was elevated, also some blood was found in my urine but im guessing that could be from UTI or from spotting. They didn't give me anything for the UTI but I will definitely bring it up to the OBGYN. Im glad to say at least since last night the spotting has stopped again so that is hopeful also :hugs:

That's strange that they didn't show you but at least you know it's in your uterus. 6 weeks is really early. When I went to the ER for spotting at 6 weeks, they only saw a gestational sac, a yolk sac and what looked like a little blob next to it. However, we were using a really shitty, old, portable U/S machine. I went back at what would've been 8.5 weeks and there was the baby, moving around and waving arms up with a heartbeat of 180 bpm! And baby was exactly 8.5 weeks so everything matches up and is perfect. So just try to be optimistic. I was told it was old implantation in my case, and I hope this is the case for you! Oh, that's good that they tested your urine. That can cause some pain, wow your ER is useless they shouldve given you some macrobid! I'm glad to hear that your spotting stopped. Mine lasted off and on for a week.

Weird but now I have what I would call chunky cm its light tan like it has old blood from yesterday and also white. Its consistency is like that of when white deoderant beads up or when you have lotion thats dried out/old and balls up rather than spreads into your skin. Geez what is this anyone now ever see anything like that before?

im reply to the CM, i get this alot :) got it during my last pregnancy aswell. the consistency tends to change during pregnancy. unless it has a foul smell i wouldnt worry :flower:
