Hello....

I wasn't sure where to post this so thought I'd ask people who are actually pregnant to see if any of you have experienced anything similar... Congratulations on all your pregnancies by the way :o)

Ok... So my periods are all over the place and I'm actually getting quite worried. I'm 34, never been pregnant but would love to have children. I got married in June this year and we haven't used any protection since.

My last 'normal' period started 8th sep.
October's was 10 days late and when AF arrived was quite heavy.
November's didn't arrive at all. I have never missed a period before this in over 20 years.
December's was a week late and lasted for 14 days.
January - I haven't got a clue what's going on...
5th Jan I had 3 red spots of blood on the toilet paper when I wiped. Not really experienced that before.
Then the next day I thought AF had arrived as there was pinkish brown on the paper but very light. This lasted for 7 days and only when I wiped. My periods are usually quite heavy.
The bleeding stopped for two days but has started again today - very light and only when I wipe.

I'm so confused and actually a bit worried.

I made a drs appt on 14th Dec and the earliest I could get was 14th Jan (yesterday). When I went the dr was very rude and said she only had time to discuss one thing and since my Chet was wheezing quite badly as I have asthma, she said she wanted to deal with that an spent the entire appt writing a prescription for steroids to open up my airways and told me to make an appointment with the asthma nurse.

I explained that I had made the appt to discuss my periods as they are all over the place and that I had waited a month for the appt but she said she didn't have time to discuss it and I had to make another appt. I wasn't very happy about it and the earliest appt I can get is 7th February.

So I'm turning to you lovely ladies to see if any of you have ever experienced this.

Also worth mentioning, all the home pregnancy tests I have done so far are showing negative results.

Is your doctor an OB/GYN or is she family practice/GP? Since you are having period issues, it might not hurt to see an actual gynecologist and see what they say. Abnormal periods can be a sign something isn't right like an over/underactive thyroid, PCOS, or endometriosis. I'd def try seeing a different doctor who is willing to work with you as well as get you in for appts sooner too. This lady sounds like a quack.

I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like you may have PCOS. You might not be ovulating. Your doctor may prescribe you something like clomid. It will help you to ovulate and shorten your cycles. There's also another drug, but I forget what it's called.

One more thing, your doctor sounds like an idiot. You should find another doctor, perhaps one that works in fertility.

I wasn't sure if I was ovulating, I was taking OPKs and it seemed like I was ovulating way too late in my cycle. So I started temping (basal body temp) and charting with fertility friend, and it seemed like I was ovulating and then we got pregnant on the 2nd month of that. So maybe try those to see if you actually are ovulating or not?

I had messed up cycles and I kept getting tested to see what was going on with me. I went to my ex gyn and she gave me the mini pill but didn't explain my crazy cycles. I stopped the mini pill because it made my cycle last forever. I started to have a regular period for a few months after that and they stopped. I went to my ex gyn and she was trying to put me on more BC I told her no and I needed to know what is going on with me. I made them give me an urine, blood and ultrasound to make sure I wasn't pregnant. She told me to wait 6 more weeks although I didn't have a cycle in August 2013. I made an appointment with another gyn that was recommended by a family member in Oct 2013 and she diagnosed me with early menopause. I finally got an answer to my question. I say all this to say don't let them tell you nothing is wrong if you feel it's not right. I also found out that you can still get pregnant even when you're going through menopause.

Thanks for all your comments. I am slightly worried it could be early menopause. I really want children - have always wanted 3 and I dont have any yet.

The dr isn't one I've seen before. Seem to see a different dr everytime As the surgery is over subscribed and since they have a month long waiting list for appointments you just have to take who you can get. I did request to see someone different for my next appt although the receptionist thinks the dr I'm seeing next is worse than the one I saw the other day. Great. Maybe they can refer me to a specialist. Just wish I didn't have to wait so long.

Early menopause can go one for years and you are able to get pregnant while going through it...I'm living proof. Good luck with everything and try to find a good gyn.
