Urgent Trigger/BD timing help :)

Hi all

This is my first time using a trigger shot, I have taken clomid lots but this time we are triggering SO i'm due for follie scan tomorrow (wed) and they think trigger shot as should have 2 mature follies. So my question is when do we BD? DH has no sperm issues, we bd last night (monday) and i'm guessing i'd do wed,thus,fri seeing as you can 0 up to 36hrs BUT do i need to do tonight too? would that be counter productive as it means we would be BD everyday for 5 days.....

Please help i really want to make this work!!!!

You may have had different advice to me so don't follow it if it doesn't sound true to you...

I've been advised to wait to dtd until after the scan. Just in case there were too many follies stimulated - two is one thing but if there were lots more then I would be told to wait until the next cycle and reduce clomid dose accordingly. So - in theory if all goes well - I would have the scan, get the trigger and was then told to dtd that day and for the next two consecutive days before going on to every other day. I temp so I'd stop dtd "on demand" once ov is confirmed with temp rise.

The trigger is just like getting a positive opk - it means you should ovulate within the next 12-36 hours. If you missed tonight, but get a trigger tomorrow then dtd tomorrow that would be prefect timing.

Hope I've understood that right from my gynae!?

Did you get a number to call to arrange your scans? You could always call and ask about dtd before the scan. Hope I haven't worried you - my advice really could be very different from yours

Yes i'm under close investigation was scanned yesterday to check follies and i have a few but really only one or two that may make the grade, so i'm pretty sure i'm safe on that front. Thank you so much for replying!! Where abouts in your cycle are you?

two follies sounds perfect!! I'd probably wait until tomorrow so I didn't wear oh out - 5 days in a row might be a bit much - depends if you think your oh can cope

I'm not in my cycle yet - today is cd25 and STILL getting low readings on cbfm. After I get a high reading it usually takes another two weeks before I actually ov. *yawn*

I started taking provera today so I might have a new cycle in two weeks give or take. Just need a high dose of patience to take alongside it!

Thanks hun!! Blimey i know the feeling of long cycles grrrr fx the provera hurries af up and you can get cracking!!

I will give tonight bd a miss - more for me than him lol! then do the next 3 days etc Are you doing iui or natural BD for your next cycle?

No - you're right we were chatting elsewhere. & yeah long cycles really do suck we're doing a natural bd cycle so this time in a few weeks I'll be asking the same questions that you are now lol!

I know how it feels to be so desperate for it all to fall into place!

Are you temping to track ov? I have done on other clomid cycles but it makes my early cycle temps a bit unpredictable

thats a releif then i'm not loosing the plot lol ! Yes i am temping but only started cd 6 more due to laziness tho - i have done it for so long now its nice to have a few days off. I have also noticed the clomid makes my temps a bit wacky but it always shows ovulation so there is enough shift.

Well hopefully you will not be too far behind me! Its such a long and frustrating journey.

Right off to check my boy bless him he has a chesty cough and is really unsettled

Hi just a quick update today didn't go as planned My follies are on strike ....I had 3 on monday a 11,12&15cm and today 11,12&16cm but they are meant to grow at least 1mm usually 2mm per day so no trigger & I have to go back friday for a scan....and if not grown a meeting with the consultant to see what to do next as this cycle will be BUST grrrrrr I have no idea what happens next....i guess maybe injectibles..

Awww pants!!! That's really rubbish news nimbec. Sorry it went that way. What dose age of clomid are you on? They might up it? My consultant erred on the side of caution when going through my options - he said the first few cycles might just be about finding the dosage that works for me & the first few months could all be a bust! Very frustrating but hopefully we're on the right track! We also talked about the possibility of switching to femara if clomid just didn't feel right. So maybe you won't have to go straight to injectables??

Fx those follies have grown for you tomorrow - I really hope so! Hope you're feeling ok

Thanks hun Sadly they won't up my dose of clomid as you are only allowd 12 lots in a lifetime i'm i'm upto 10 already so if they doubled my dose i would be over Maybe femera is the way forward......i will let you know what they say friday. Its odd as clearly i have responded to it as i have 3 follies but they just seem to have got stuck! Lazy ones lol!

How are you? how many more days of provera do you have?

Strange that you've been told that. I've been told that I will have 3-6 rounds of clomid after they've found the right dose for me. And I've already had 3 rounds of 50mg before moving me up to 100mg with no talk of "12 rounds in a lifetime" might be worth questioning? On my last round of clomid I ov'd on cd30 so if I were you I'd get the opks out! A late ov is still an ov!!

I'm currently day 3 of provera. The lows on my cbfm we're getting me so frustrated I've just thrown in the towel this cycle!! I thought I had 10 days worth but I checked my prescription this morning and it's only for 7 days - so almost half way there. Hope af doesn't take ages to show up - I've no patience at all lol!!

Really hope they have good news for you tomorrow so you don't have to go back to your gynae. Would you have to wait for the appt or would it be squeezed in sooner rather than later??

I've been told and googled as well because i was wanting to know more ...the gist is that there is a link to it and ovarian cancer but they do not really have enough research into it. But i guess its not worth taking the risk....I do wonder tho how injectibles are any different.... maybe because they are directly stimulating the ovaries whereas Clomid tricks the brain idk i will ask Friday!

Luckily my fertility clinic is all under one roof and if i need to see the consultant they will fit me in there an then (usually) or i may have to wait a few days but not too long.

Are you under a gynae or a clinic? I was under a gynae first time round but didn't get any monitoring with the clomid but this time it has been far more complicated with my cyst etc so i have to be at a private clinic which actually has worked out much better for me in the end. Sounds like your gynae is very infromative tho which is fantastic!!

I'm just with gynae. They did a scan last week to check my ovaries and they look fine except for lots of little cysts. I'm not so sure whether my gynae in informative or whether I grill him into telling me everything! I was diagnosed with an unusual blood disorder in 2012 and ever since I have turned up to my haematology appointments armed with research, evidence and a LOT of questions. The habit has stuck with me.... Unfortunately for my gynae

Glad you will be seen quickly. And my experience with health professionals is that they do want to hear your questions - so take a list if you need to! Hopefully you won't need it and your scan will look more promising tomorrow. Good luck!!

So sorry for the slow reply, well it wasn't terrible news but not great. I had one follie that was almost 18mm so they agreed to give me the trigger shot as the others had not changed and we didn't want to risk this one shrinking....so i did the trigger at 8pm last night but by 2am i was in agony with stomach cramps and being sick not nice at all!!! I'm still feeling rough today hoping it will go away soon!!! Not sure how i'm going to BD tonight as i'm so icky - come what may i will manage lol!!!

Next plan is to meet consultant if i get bfn and go from there but likley injectibles with iui.

I'm glad you had a bigger follie & got the trigger shot. But those side effects??! Wow - I've been so focused on the clomid side effects I hadn't even considered the shot side effects! How are you feeling this morning? Hope you're much better when you say you had the trigger at 8pm do you mean you were still at the hospital at that time? Sounds like a long day if you were!

I only have two provera tablets left I should have three but one fell down the plug hole - ooops. I hope missing the last one won't have a huge impact. Just hope I get AF - I've heard some people don't get a withdrawal bleed from provera. My blood condition is old news to me just now - I just get on with life & try not to think about it. It does affect my blood clotting so whilst it doesn't matter much in pregnancy, if I do ever manage to get preggo I'll be a high risk patient as giving birth will be much more risky. I have two fab consultants though & I trust them. They think all will be fine.

Just have to get over the huge hurdle of actually getting a

Fx you won't need the injectables and have a lucky last month on clomid so excited that you'll be in the tww soon - I know it's a tough place to be but better there than have a wiped out cycle!

Thanks hun, yay for nearly finishing provera - i'm sure 1 tablet won't make any difference! I did bleed from it but it took a while...was about to give up lol so don't worry if it takes 10 days -2 weeks it may still happen. Hopefully you will bleed within a few days

Yes Clomid side effects are not plesent but this was terrible, they did say i won't have it again they can give me a different one....i must be super sensitive to it....They give you the trigger to take home so you do it in the evening...nice needle lol!

Yes bring on the 2ww i just want it over so i can start afresh - i don't even try to get my hopes up these days. lol x

Hi hun i'm ok pretty frustrated as no temp rise - i called the clinic and they told me that the drugs can affect temps esp the trigger so to ignor my temps and test as usual. Me on the other hand ...i've decided i'm out of the running LOL!! I think they where just being nice to me. LOL!
