Urinary Tract Infection

has anyone had a UTI during pregnancy? I honestly didnt know i had one till the OB told me .... Just curious , hope this isnt a gross question LOL, and If you did what were the symptoms if you dont mind me asking ...

UTI are very common during pregnancy. Best way to help prevent, drink cranberry juice or pomegranate juice. Anything high in anti-oxidents.

Symptoms are usually tender back, tender sides, pains or burning during urination, inability to urinate. (Feeling like you have a full bladder, sometimes only able to tinkle, sometimes nothing comes out)

Some of these are symptoms I had an UTI before I was pregnant. My mother and niece both get UTI frequently, to the point they cannot pee at all, almost immediately.

Thank you so much since I'm at work i will start with some cranberry juice, they did put me on meds which i didnt like because i was pregnant but they said it was fine, But i have noticed the pills make me very nauseous, and Im already nauseaous enough, LOL, but thank you so much for your advice and tips im going to go get some cranberry juice

Those pills are heavy on the stomach. Try taking with some food or a glass of milk. Something in your stomach always helps.

They're really common, and I've had 3 so far Arghh.
First one in July was actually a kidney infection which is more serious form of UTI, symptoms were:
- smelly pee, lol I can't describe it well.. it just didn't smell right..
- not having to pee more often but not being able to hold it when I had to go lol
- "flank pain", lower back area sort of but to the side, pretty dull but constant pains
- nausea and fatigue.

Had a 2 UTIs, one I got treated for but the other had no symptoms for so didn't get treated for it, found out later that my urine tested postive for it, but symptoms with the one I did get treated for were:
- peeing a tiny little amount then feeling like I had to go a few minutes later
- just an overall feeling of discomfort basically there

Burning when you urinate, itching, sore, inflamed, red etc etc..... I take cystopurin sachets and clears mine up straight away really good stuff. xx

My OB put me on Nitrofurantoin , has anyone been on those pills ??

I has one but i was bleding and its was real sore so i def knew that there was something up. They keep finding traces of protein in my urine so keep testing me for them.

I had a very bad urinary infection before I got pregnant, my stomach came up like a football, and it was the most painful experience of life! Being diabetic doesn't help. I drink a lot of water, which helps flush out bad stuff in the system. Its common with pregnancy - cranberry juice and water is the best prevention.

I have frequent recurrent UTI's including cystitus symptoms, I mean I constantly have either a UTI or protein in my urine. Its hell tbh, but has cleared up a bit after 3 months antibiotics. Now only really shows up when I get dehydrated or have lots of sex lol. I know I hav another major bout coming when it hurts/burns to pee, I have discomfort in my lady area, dunno how to describe really and I feel really dehydrated and thirsty no matter how much I drink xxx

I had pain in my lower back, very severe pain... and urine hurt passing... plus it was fire hot.

I have had 2 x kidney stone attacks in my life so I can totally relate! Trust me, those back pains are a killer! x
