So the last few days LO seems to have a big problem with constipation. We have tried giving him a little bit of water in between feedings, or a lesser amount of powder in his formula, along with massaging his abdomen and working his legs, and nothing seems to be helping him. He tries to push til his face turns bright red and he cries all the time, I feel horrible :(

He is currently on Similac, has anyone had this problem with Similac or had luck switching to a different brand? I want to try to find something similar enough that he won't reject it since it is so expensive...But I'm really not up on the different brands.

If you are on Similac try the Similac Sensitive first.

My son can only tolerate the sensitive formulas; Similac Sensitive or Enfamil Gentlease. We also sometimes buy the store brand versions of these as do many, many parents.

Okay, thanks :) I will try that. If that doesn't work I think we are gonna switch him to soy since both FOB and I could only have soy as babies.

Hopefully the sensitive works.

My LO is on Similac Sensitive, and has been VERY constipated the last few days, but I am pretty sure it's due to the gas drops he's been having with each bottle due to excessive spit up. I am going to do a few days without drops to see if there's a difference. Like you, I used all those methods and was unable to help him go, but if you take a qtip coated in vaseline and gently swab the tip of it inside his rectum, it helps to stimulate the bowels and it worked perfectly. I was hesitant to do it at first, but he was very visibly relieved afterward and that made it worth it.

We put him on Similac Sensitive last night and he already seems a lot better. His stomach isn't hurting him like it was it seems, before he would cry and fuss while we were feeding him or right after. Hopefully that is what works :)

Thank you guys!

When my DD was a baby she had the same problem and Enfamil Gentlease worked very well for her.
