Which brand of formula did you choose and why?

I plan to formula feed and I don't have a clue on which one we will be using. I guess whatever the hospital gives us and if he is fine with it then we will keep it that way.

I nursed for 8 months and then my son decided he wanted to be bottle fed only and I couldn't keep up with his demands while I was working....so.....we tried a couple types, but the only brand he would drink was Similac. So, that's what we stuck with until he was one and could have cow's milk.

Your hospital will likely steer you to one of the "big 3", Similac, Enfamil or Good Start. Babies can have different reactions to each of them and all 3 offer "gentle" formulations of themselves.

You can also confidently trust store brands of these formulas as they are under guildelines to be nutrionally identical and cost less.

I started feeding Similac but then switched to Enfamil. My LO has been on the infant version since the begining

Hospital tried my little man on similac the blue one and didn't take that one one bit made him sick to his stomach and he would puke it all out so that night before they let him come over they tried similac isomil and he took that one fine! 5 months later and he is still drinking it :)

We used Enfamil Newborn initially. It was the brand offered by our hospital. Our LO seemed extremely gassy with it, so we tried some of the "gentle" formulas the pp mentioned. We have finally settled with Gerber Good Start Gentle. He is much more comfortable. You may have to try several brands to find the right one, or as you mentioned, your LO may take well to the one offered in the hospital :).

Good luck!

I started with gerber and it was like poison to him
Then we switched to similac sensitive and has been on it since :)

We started out on Nestle Good Start. It made her gassy so we switched to Enfamil A+ (whatever its called now) and that helped her. :flower:

All babies are different, it really depends on what works for your kiddo!

like the otherws have said, it's going to depend on your baby. ours can only tolerate enfamil gentlease.

you may want to sign up at all of the makers' websites to get coupons when you are getting close to your EDD, that way you can have coupons on hand if you need to try a few different brands. :flower:

With my first we tried the big brands, and all of them were either spit-up or seemed to cause gas pain. We ended up trying the Costco brand (Kirkland Signature) and who knew?? It's been great! Not only is it cheaper, but both of my kids adored it. like everyone has said, it's different for each baby's unique system, but Costco is something to consider :)

We started with Enfamil NB. She was fine with this one. No problems at all. This was when I didn't know that babies react differently to certain formulas, btw.

Financially, we switched from Enfamil NB to Similac GE but this one gave her major gas problems and changed the consistency and color of her poo.

Then, we switched back to Enfamil brand, infant version, and she had no problems with this one.

HowEVER, we compared the Target brand to Enfamil and it is the exact same ingredients. I read both containers, word for word. So, *sigh* we decided to put her on the Target brand, which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY inexpensive! And she's been on this one since, without a problem.

We would have stuck with Enfamil but we just had to go for the cheaper route. Same ingredients and amounts in it so why not.

I will probably end up going with a store brand in the end after we find which one is best and compare it.. because they are less expensive and if its just as sufficient, why not :)

We used Walmart brand that is same as enfamil with my 2 yr old it worked great for him and we tried everything as he had colic and the formula with dr brown bottles was what worked! This time I'm liking the sample of newborn enfamil but will most likely go with store brand they have the same ingredients :)

Right now I have enough Enfamil NB to last me until August. Then I have enough Enfamil Infant to last me until a little into October. After that I will switch her over to the Costco brand of formula. I've only heard good things about it and its sooooooooooooo well priced!

Figure by then she'll really be eating some food too so I'm not as concerned about switching the formula up.

We were started on similac advantage but it made him sick. He is now on similac sensitive and doing great. Mom to mom is a store brand that is almost the same and works well for him.

We started on SImilac Advance, but asshe grew and started INHALING 50oz a day, we were hurting in the bank account, big time. We swapped to Parent's Choice with no problems at all! Its been good for us!
