Hello!
I believe I have PCOS although I am starting the testing for it now
I am overweight and have irregular cycles
I quit birth control in Oct 2011 and didnt have a period until july 2012 and still nothing :(
so now im thinking about starting BCP (which dr suggested in the first place) to maybe reset this crazy train

But BCP supress ovulation right? how does this work? does anyone else do this ? i heard its common which women with PCOS

I also wondered if after you finish your back and start your period, can you take vitex to help ovulation?

thanks so much ladies!

Yes, bcp can help regulate ur period but if u plan to conceive I don't know how it will help you.
I have pcos too. Gyno gave me provera to induce af and put me on metformin and clomid. I dont get progesterone though coz egg was mature and released.
What is ur doctor plan to do?
If u plan to lose weight, try low carb diet&exercise. Better than exercise alone.

Idk I still have to hear back from lab work done
And idk I just feel like it will jump start everything again lol

U can jump start with provera. Take it for 5days and 2 days later af should come. If u use bcp, u're gonna miss one cycle.
Hope ur test result good.

years ago my tests were disastrous! when my ex and i separated after 9 yrs, i briefly went on the pill (as much as i wanted a child, i didn't one out of a loving relationship) i was only on it for about 6/7 months.... this time round TTC with my DH my tests are great, i mean really great!

I can only attribute that to BCP resetting my body! Still hope one day i'll have my long awaited family!

I have had two doctors tell me that you are most fertile the first month off BCP, however I don't think that that necessarily applies to women with PCOS. It might be worth a try tho.
I have PCOS and when I went off BCP it took me 12 months to get AF so it certainly didn't work for me.

Yes, different women different case. I was on bcp for 3years. The first 3 months post bcp I got regular 30days cycle.
Month 2nd post bcp I had suspected chemical pg.
Month 3, still normal 30days cycle
Month 4th post bcp, I got the longest cycle ever 50days.
Month 5th I went to see gyno when I was cd 40 but af still no show. Found out pcos. Took provera.

I also wondered if after you finish your back and start your period, can you take vitex to help ovulation?

Yes, I think so. At least I have been doing so since going of the pill (and I am suspected PCOS) a year ago. I've had a period every month since then -- for the first time in my 36 years! (knock on wood...).
