I'm almost 12 weeks pregnant (1st preg) and I'm very very happy - but I'm becoming really bored. I feel like I can't enjoy any of the things I used to enjoy. I enjoyed a good bottle of wine with my friends, eating out with my partner and sometimes going to see tourist attractions like museums. But at the minute everything just seems out the window. Obv I can't drink, I don't like eating out now because I have huge food aversions and often get sick after eating and I'm so tired walking around tourist attractions doesn't appeal. It doesn't help that my husband has been out drinking quite a few times with his work colleagues and friends which makes me feel even more fed up as I feel like i'm going through this alone - but he said after tonight he's going to stop going out as much. I've started making crafts, which has kept me a little entertained, but it's wearing thin. I'm thinking a spa day might be nice - anyone got any other ideas? Anyone feeling the same?

Pregnancy is the most boring, torturous time in my life. At 5 months I went surfing for the last time and spent the whole rest of the time being bored sensless. I can't imagine how those women are who say being pregnant is the happiest time of their lives.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one bored senseless. I don't know who these people are who love being pregnant! What's fun about being sick and tired! :)

Try cooking some new recipes? Reading some new books? Go to the cinema - you don't get to do that much after baby comes. Umm take up a musical instrument? Learn how to knit? Write a blog? I'd like to do all these things but with work and a demanding toddler I don't have a lot of time to get bored!

New recipes is a no-no! I've got bad food aversions to pretty much anything that isn't bland :( I don't like the cinema because I have to pee constantly. Writing a blog is a no too, as I'm in PR and have to write all day - don't want to do it in the evening. Like the knitting idea, you never know, I could knit a whole wardrobe for the little one before it comes along (poor thing lol). Yes, a good book might work - might try that new JK Rowling one :)

Thanks x

Same here. I even thought about getting a job as a volunteer at the local library but then I think I just wanna stay in bed until noon. If you haven't watch the movie "what to expect when expecting", watch it. It's at least 2 hours of entertainment. And it also gives you the different points of view about pregnancy of different women. Aggggrrhhh, I don't like living counting the days! And I also feel like I am alone in this cause my OH won't quit smoking, and that is something he knows I also used to enjoy before pregnancy! Hang in there, you are not alone! Lol

Ooh - good idea about the film!! Must see if I can get it this weekend! :) You hang in there too! :) xx

I understand we all get bored at some point, but the way I look at it is on the grand scale of things its only nine months of our lives.....make the most of being bored because once your little ones are here you won't have time to be bored :flower:

I used to moan at my mum about it before I had my first and she told me the same, enjoy it while you can she would say...and my god was she right!!!
The first three month I would of given anything to be bored again :haha:

I actually like being pregnant.. this is my 3rd pregnancy.. I normally dont have very bad symptoms, my pregnancies so far (knock on wood) have been pretty easy... I like feeling the baby inside growing and moving, the attention that I get while pregnant, and oddly enough, I also like the excitement of heading to the hospital in anticipation of delivering your new baby, and getting to meet the baby for the first time. what i DONT like is the recovery after childbirth. ugh!

Yep, being pregnant is boring. Like you, I really missed my wine, but I continued doing things like going out with my friends. My friend has now discovered non-alcoholic wine and says she likes the ritual of having a glass after a long day even if there isn't any alcohol in it.

Like you, I had food aversions during my first pregnancy, but they did go away at about 14/15 weeks, so perhaps it will be the same for you. This will help you enjoy life a lot more if it goes away.

Do you like to walk? Try going on a little walk every day or buy a prenatal workout video. I liked doing prenatal yoga even though yoga is not normally my thing. Take really nice bubble baths with scented bath salts. Go get a pedicure. If you like to read, join a book club. Baby and Bump will surely help you pass some time. I did craft projects for the baby's room while I was pregnant. If you are not on Pinterest, get on there as it will give you a ton of ideas (if you need an invite PM me). You could garden. Set up some fun movie nights at home with either you and your OH or invite some girlfriends over. That way you can pause when you need a bathroom break. Although this is not a great idea for a hobby, I like to shop when I am bored. You've got a baby coming so there is plenty to shop for. You can even start to pick out birth announcements (if you plan on doing them) as you will be too busy/tired to do it after your lo gets here. Maybe plan a little mini vacation for sometime in the second trimester. Just a weekend away. Try to plan the nicest trip possible for the least amount of money. Or really splash out, whatever you like. The planning will keep you busy and the trip will too.

Hope this helps. Being pregnant was and is not the best time of my life, but to be honest I've even been more bored since the child arrived. Trying to find a sitter is near impossible! Make the most of the time you do have!

Hopefully i'll feel like that soon once (fingers crossed) my sickness goes in 2nd trimester! Haven't felt any movement, so that'll defo be good. The birth seems like a million billion miles away though! Can't wait to meet them! :)

I tried the non alcoholic wine and kopperburg cider (which was lovely) when I was just over a month preg and I enjoyed it. But those good old food aversions soon put a stop to anything like that! Hopefully that'll pass! Really
hope so, as I love going out to dinner and cooking too - so would be good to be able to do that again.

Oh - I like idea of getting a prenatal exercise DVD! might do that this weekend! might put in some practice before joining a class :)

Thanks x

It seems like forever sometimes, trying to get to different milestones in your pregnancy, even now I'm 6 weeks and I'm already itching to get to 12 weeks....then 20 weeks for the sex scan then there's the what seems like forever long haul to giving birth.....its all gone in a puff of smoke....you will find something you can do thats not so bad, second trimester isn't too bad, you start to feel a little more human in those months....and when your baby starts to kick you will find yourself never feeling alone :flower: I'm going to savor every minute of this one (well try) so I can enjoy it a little more

I've been getting the house organized and cleaned. Backyard too, we built a new shed + base, cleaned out under the deck, there are installers in putting in a 12 ft kitchen window + sliding glass door, I wainscoted & OH painted the baby room (8 months for it to air out), I've been making my wishlist on pinterest (join me! 'designeye') for the baby products I'd like to get, when we get back from vaca I'm going to design the announcement/christmas cards. omg, I don't think I've had a moment free, was steam cleaning our area rugs till 10 last night...on and on. Hopefully I won't need to lift a finger when i'm massive with bump.

I'm sorry you feel this way ladies, I do get bored at times, but I'm one of those people who enjoy every minute of being pregnant! I just find creating a new life so exciting! Even though things get rough at times, I try and look at the big picture. I am being blessed with the ability to give another person life and I appreciate that a lot. Especially when there's so many people out there fighting infertility! Boredom does strike but there are lots of ways to get around that!
