Is it normal?? Baby got 2 vaccines one of rotavirus and the other I can't remember. Now she has fever 38.5 and miserable. Dr says its normal I'm not sure... Worried.

I just got my sons vaccine today. Dr said under 101F is normal. 38.5=101.3 so she is just over that. Not sure if that should be concerning or not. When did she get the vaccine?

Awww it makes them so miserable doesn't it :(

My lo had his 3rd lot on Tuesday and ran a temp all afternoon, screamed all night, and was a nightmare yesterday but again due to a high temp. This lot have been the worst by far. I just gave a half dose of calpol as needed and it certainly helped him.

IMO it's completely normal to run a little temp but if you're really worried you could always take lo to a&e just to get checked over. I find after 48 hrs he is usually right as rain again :hugs:

Thanks ladies. She just got her shots this morning and by noon she was on fire. Dr called and said it was normal. I just feel do bad for her :(

My baby had his 4 month vaccine yesterday and cried literally all night I am exhausted. Have reduced fever with regular calpol and have also gave him nasal drops and olbus oil ( for the cold it seemed to give him) he has already really improved.

Normal. Give her some Calpol and lots of cuddles x

Yes, it is normal. It is showing that she is having an immune response to the vaccine - this is good, the vaccine is working! Nothing to worry about, it'll pass, just give her some pain relief if you're worried.

I'm freaking out. Been on phone with dr since yesterday she's been vomiting alot of her feeds :( she's also on meds for a bit of thrush he found in her mouth but apparently it shouldn't affect her... I'm so worried. Fever still here!! Last night her last bottle she projectile vomited! I had to remake a bottle and she took 2 ounces and fell asleep. She's still sleeping that was at 345am.

I'm sick with worry... Dr is not concerned but I am

It's been 5 hours she's sleeping usually she wakes up around 8am for her bottle but it's 9am and she's still out

Its normal after shots for them to be extra sleepy, as their body is working on immune response to the vaccine which can make them extra tired. My boys usually always slept a lot the day of, and day after shots, and usually had a low-grade fever which I gave infant tylenol for.

Vomiting does sound worrying though, unless its a possible side effect listed for the vaccine. Do you have a handout for the vaccine listing possible side effects?

The dr keeps telling me not to worry that it can be normal but I'm not sure. Never got any panflets?

You can look at your shot records to see which shots were given, and then google possible side effects to see if they match what your baby is having.

Our pediatrician always gives us a handout saying which shots were given, possible side effects that are normal, and possible side effects that are not normal and should be seen by a doctor for.

Oh Hun you must be worrying. My lo is also sleepy after shots. It could be the rotavirus one that's upset her. I'm going to tell you what my leaflet says

" many millions of doses of the vaccine have been used and it has a good safety record. Babies who have had the vaccine can sometimes become restless an tetchy. Some may develop mild diorreah.

In very rare cases (about two in every hundred thousand babies vaccinated) the vaccine can affect the babies lower gut and they may develop abdominal pain, vomiting and can sometimes pass what looks like redcurrant jelly in their nappies. If this happens you should contact your dr immediately."

Please don't think I am in any way trying to scare you. I'm pretty sure when my lo had the drops it was only the redcurrant jelly in the nappy bit you really need to be concerned about.

Go with your gut Hun. Nobody knows your baby better than you do. If need be can you get her checked out by another dr just for piece of mind? I'm sure she just feels quite unwell and will be back to normal soon :hugs:
