It wasn't meant to be harsh and I don't think she took it that way either....I just don't understand why people make a note about not wanting any negative replies when asking for opinions. To me, you might as well just say...hey, these are the names I like and if you don't like them, then don't post here. If that's what you're looking for, why post and ask for opinions at all?

When I make a post about names...I'm looking for good, honest opinions. If you hate a name that I posted...tell me you hate it and give me your reason. Telling me "I think the name Aurora has a hideous sound" is a lot more useful to me then "It's okay but not my style." kwim

Because peoples feelings can get hurt in name threads I thought we had learnt that already. Sometimes people need to have a little tact.

It hurts when people say horrible things about names you have chosen for your child, even if it is just some random person on the internet.

I dont understand why your are being so hostile.

No, point taken, Emma took what you said gracefully and I agree if you post asking for opinions you are bound to have some that disagree with what you have said or are hoping for.

It's just there is a massive difference between "No I don't like the way that name sounds" and "Oh my god that's a hideous name, it sounds awful." The first one is a negative comment in that it's saying no but the second one could be seen as a nasty comment. And it was nasty comments she said she didn't want, not negative ones.

That's why I thought your first reply was harsh, because she wasn't asking people who didn't like the names not to reply, she was just asking them not to be nasty in the way they did it and I thought what you wrote in response to that request seemed harsh and out of proportion.

Buttercup-I dislike, seems more a pet guinea pig name or something, and her name would end in "cup"...butter and cup...no I'm not sure
Pixie- Makes me think of nobly little elves living in caves wearing green hats
Precious- A nice idea but doesn't work well as a name for me. Lovely dedication to your angel though, but then I wouldn't choose it if you prefer other names

There is nothing wrong with you childrens names they are all beautiful and God knows why people suggest they would get bullied for them. Some people piss me off when it comes to names and all they want to do is criticise.

I got boned in another thread for saying I loved the name Oak for a boy Oh well, apparently it would be rediculous and it would be a form of child abuse if I named my baby that I wouldn't listen to alot of the shite people babble on here about names and bullying at the end of the day you chose the name and its YOUR baby so what should it matter what some prat on the internet thinks! ( wasn't directed at anyone personal so don't all jump the gun ) Anyway I think your name choices are really pretty!

I don't want to argue in any way, shape or form...in fact all the arguments on here are really annoying me lately BUT I just had to reply to this.

I saw the thread regarding the name Oak and I believe that someone else mentioned they didn't like the name THEN you said it was a name you liked and put someone down for saying that in their opinion the name Oak was "nonsense". In the same thread you then went on to diss the name Dolphin...

SORRY...I've been in an argumentative mood lately (bloody hormones ) and I told myself I wouldn't get involved in these name arguments I just kinda wanted to stick up for the person that criticised the name Oak as I thought you were a bit harsh on her....and I definitely don't think you "got boned down".

I actually like most of these unusual names including Oak.... so I'm not dissing anyone's name and don't want anyone to be offended!

TBH I don't think it'd thrill you too much if nearly everything you posted had a follow up from me speculating on your opinions good/bad whatever! Just take it as it is - MY OPINION. Its not meant to be right or wrong or whatever its just that - an opinion. Well I'm sorry you don't like who I am or how I write but thats just me and maybe I'm just a bitch!
