vomitting after ff

My lo is 6mth old and iam trying to stop bf. He has had occasional formula before without problem. I have been trying to give 1 bottle a day. But he has been sick quite a bit after ff. Is this normal?. Also it says on formula tin 5 X 7oz feed in 24hr so I have been trying to give 7oz feed but he cant finish it. Would love to hear from other bf mums who have switched to formula -have u had similar problems?

Breastfed babies take little and often, so a 7oz feed is probably more milk in one go than he's ever had in his life. Try half the amount twice as often, or just demand feed, which I believe is the advice now for FFing anyway.

I switched about 3 weeks ago and whilst I don't have the sick thing I do know that my LO couldn't drink 5x 7oz. He's 3 meals a day now and has 4 3-6oz bottles. Sometimes he only has 2oz, sometimes 5oz! I fees him every 4 hrs but if he's hungry before then will feed him then. I think with BF he was used to smaller amounts and so 7oz is too much for him.

thank you both for that advice- i did think it was a huge amount. i will just play it by ear he just had his breakfast and only had 3 oz. Will just feed on demand as usual and make up smaller bottles until he wants more.

Also, just check the temperature...I gave LO a bottlefeed a while back to try and see if he would sleep longer....and it was warmer than BM (I express, so had an idea of how warm BM is) Not burning, just warmer. He drank fine, but had a terrible throw-up and choke after that. That was the one and only time we exprienced it. Made the bottle much cooler after that.
