I'm hoping that baby will arrive soon (only 4 days over so far) but I'm sat wondering about feeding

At the hospital they provide pre-made bottles which are at room temperature - and there is no facility to heat them up. A friend of mine who has just had a baby has decided to continue to bottle feeding the formula at room temperature.

Is it ok to do this? I'm thinking this would save time etc. If the hospital allow it surely it is ok?

Thanks xxxx

Findlay had his bottles at room temp in the hospital and we've carried on with that and it's fine. We just use the bottle warmer to take the chill off it when it comes out of the fridge so half the time it's prob not even room temp. We've tried giving him a 'properly' warm bottle a few times and he won't take it, he's a cold/room temp only baby lol. Whatever works for you and baby is fine :)

Hope your little one makes an appearance soon for you :D

I think it entirely depends on the baby, some are happy to take it at room temperature wheras others like it a bit warmer, if yours is happy having it at room temp then i dont see why not. Brooke used to before she had to have gaviscon in her feeds

Grace preffered hers at room temperature but i think it depends on th baby

Alexander doesn't care either way, as long as the bottle is in his mouth

We used to warm it, but now our boiuled water is room temparature and that is how we prepare the bottles.

I think it depends on the baby! :hugs:

In the winter I warmed them... now she has them at room temp. Alot of babies will take it at room temp.

Rosie only takes hers when its quite warm! she borks if its cooler lol x

i warm rhys up, as i think of it as nature intended milk to be drank at body temp so i warm it up a bit.
but if room temp is beig drank no problems then carry on with that
xx

Hannah always liked hers a little warmer than room temp (not much though or she'd get mad the little diva ) Now I give her one in the morning that's warmish and the rest is served straight out of the fridge

Annabelle prefers it warmer but if we are out and about i give it to her room temp and she really isnt too bothered.

Lilly will only take it warm, she really gulps otherwise and takes in loads of air so will depend on your baby. xx

Liss has hers at room temp/ well just right on the wrist as i make mine fresh. Your not supposed to give straight from the fridge though, cant remember why.

I think it's because it can be hard on their tummy especially for young babies :)

Patrick has his warm, if he drinks it room temp it all comes back up.....with force! But hes gotta have his night time bottle a little bit warmer than all the rest...otherwise he wont go to sleep??? Hes so dramatic! x

Thanks for all your replies! I think I'll try both and see which one baby prefers! If he/she ever arrives!! :) xxx

we made the mistake of warming Chloe's bottles and now she won't have it at room temp and if i wind her mid bottle then i have to warm it up again...fussy girl lol

We have always given Phoebe her bottles at room temp and she has be fine.

My DD only tolerated room temp formula in the hospital. As soon as we got home she refused it and we had to warm it. Then over the months she got fussier and the bottle had to be warmer - now it must be above body temp or she won't accept it. I say try room temp and if your lo likes it then yay!

Theo refused to take his milk at room temp in hospital, they had to keep us in for a few days and warm his bottles, and monitor him, he took the milk when it was warmed, so this is what we have had to continue doing.....he gags if it isn't warmed.

But every baby is different, I know alot of babies that take it at room temp xx
