a family member knitted us a really lovely shwal that we wanna put in our hospital bag -

we going to wash it on the 'wool' setting but does anyone know if its ok to tumble dry it? i thought it would be ok and would fluff it up better then on the line?

As a knitter I urge you, don't do it!

Ask whoever made it you if they read/still have the label for the wool and check the washing instructions, most wool will be ruined in the dryer though xxx

yeh... woolly jumper + tumble dryer = bin.
my nanna has knitted me lots of things nd has warned me not to put them in the tumble dryer (which won't be hard as i don't have one that works!).
xx

i would say no too my nan was an avid knitter and always line dried everything !!!

I've hand washed and line dried any woollen things people have knitted for baby and they are all still soft and fluffy

They might have used an acrylic yarn though with it being a baby item, so ask them and see what they say. Ive done all my baby knits in washer and dryer friendly yarns ;) xx

it was a special baby wool - because she put the woll packet thingy in when she sent it to us but i dont know where it is

I'd be 90% sure it will be fine then, I've never seen a baby wool that cant go in the washer and dryer. Dry it on a low heat though, just to be safe until you find the label ;) xxx

I would err on the side of caution and not put it in the dryer. I have recently washed some wool longies and nappy covers, because wool cycles tend to be a slow spin the items come out quite wet so I got some old towels down on the floor put the items on them with another towel on top and stood on them to get out the majority

thanks everyone - we going to wash it on the "wool" setting and then let it dry naturally :)

I have found it best to hand wash and tumble dry, let us know how it goes!xx
