waste of time!!!PCOS ladies i need some advice

Hi Girls!!! I'm trying to be on a low carb diet, and it sucks ass, I love Carbs!!! Also am trying to give up sweet things. And have taken up a sport to do as a hobby, which is ace. :) Am going to see Gynae for the first time next wednesday, am really nervous!! I have managed to lose 1 1/2inches off of my waist in about 2months. :) xxx

cool!! when you lose the first inches, and you look yourself at the mirror, is the best encouragement of keeping on diet!! the first step is the hardest! :icecream:

I find the first two weeks to be the worst and then I can manage after that. I usually get pretty creative when I am on low carb. Like tonight I made lasagna for DH with chicken sausage and for me, I made lasagna too but instead of the noodles, I pounded a breast of chicken really thin and used that.

I also get big portabello mushroom caps and clean out the gills then i put sauce and cheese in it and I have a low carb pizza.

I need the encouragement too. DH usually isn't too encouraging. If I suggest we get a pizza, he will say thats fine. My mom made sure I stayed on my diet last time. This time she is too but she is motivating me with money. It works surprisingly well. =).

lol! yes!!!

When I lost all that weight years ago, I was 20, and still living with my parents.. I realized, that we usually eat whats available... so my mom made the diet for everyone... no exceptions, and my family and I are not the delivery or to go kind.. so that helped me.. at home there would be only soups, healthy food and salads, and just water.. I lost my first 20 pounds fast.. like in a month... the rest took a year. Once I saw the results, it was even easier for me to go to friends´houses, and reject any type of food they would offer me! I felt great back then!

Yeah I managed to eat out with my friends. Usually I would order the spinach and artichoke dip and make sure they didn't put chips on the plate.

There was one time I met up with friends and they made mozzarella sticks and I picked off all the breading and ate the cheese. I also did that to a pizza once. I scooped all the chese and sauce off the crust and ate that!

Had my first FS appointment and have to say I'm so angry at myself for getting my hopes up. He said i need to get my bmi down to 30 (its at 33) before he even considers me for treatment and because my OH has 2 adult children we have to go private. the only decent advice he gave me was to go on medication to start my periods, and the last thing he said was maybe we will see you at the end of the year. My head is spinning what to i do.
i have PCOS and i am finding so hard to loose weight , my GP gave me orlistat and Ive lost 12lbs in eight weeks. Just feel like Ive been fobbed off. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Wow we could have seen the same doctor.. Mine has told me the same thing.. I felt like he just didn't want to know about it.. Makes u feel like crap I am changing gynecologists as a friend of mine has recommended one. I find it hard to stick to a diet everyone has said if u want a baby u will find a way... That is easier said than done as much as I want a baby it's not that simple I have a huge issue with comfort eating. It's a big hurdle to over come. I hope u Get ur BMI were u need it. Babydust!!!

what do you mean about get turned down?? :O

like can they actually refuse to treat me untill I lose weight? Is that even legal in the US?

I dont think so. I mean, once you get an appointment, you get tests, and the doctor finally tells you whats going on, and what treatment you have to follow, sometimes, you can schedule another appointment, if something is not working out for you etc... I dont think the denial of medical attention is legal in the US!!!

Have you seen a doctor already? :flower:

We conceived DS with when I had a BMI of nearly 38 (and I have pcos). I am currently at a bmi of 33. It can be done at a high weight it's just a lot longer, harder process. Losing the weight will definitely help to have less complications with a pregnancy too. So, if it'll help you conceive and keep your baby safer, it's a win-win situation. It's not fun, but it's for the best. I had a ton of complications with DS and am hoping to avoid them when we finally conceive baby #2. Good luck!

Hi ladies, your stories are inspiring! For those who are using Metformin, can you start it anytime or must you wait for a particular cycle day? Thanks so much!

I believe metformin can be started on any cycle day. I started mine on day 42 or so in an effort to get it to also kickstart my period (which it did and I'm now on CD3!).

yes, it can start any day of the cycle, but careful, this medication can be heavy, as it hurted me (had many stomach problems, felt too weak, etc), so if the doctor thinks you can take it, do it, but in case you get some of these second effects, go and see your doctor a.s.a.p, it happened to me!

The side effects go away but I still get the side effects one a week now. If you are only on one pill a day, take it at night right before bed, if you are on it twice a day, I take mine at lunch and then right before I go to bed. This is the combination that works the best for me.
