watch this video..

LOL I just made my OH watch this video with me... holy crap.
He screamed the entire way through. Like... he was TERRIFIED! He screamed, "OUCH! OH MY GOD! NOTHING ABOUT THE IS BEAUTIFUL! OH MY GOD TURN IT OFF! OH MY GOD WHY ARE YOU WATCHING THIS?! WHY WOULD YOU WANT THIS?! OH MY GOD!"

I thought the whole cutting thing was really freaky... kinda made my tummy knot up a bit. I can't believe she was smiling all the way through. She must've been on drugs.

whoah. That lady has to be on drugs to be... smiling O.o

tbh, that was my reaction too hahaa

Maybe she was drugged up?
I had an episiotomy with my 1st, drug free. I wasnt big enough to push him out yet he was only 6 pounds lol.. I would much rather it then tearing.

I dont remember any of the pains, all i remember is the contractions. My son needed to be sucked out of me as the cord was around his neck 3 times and wasnt breathing. I really didnt expect that to happen as i had a pretty good pregnancy. Labour was worse then i thought but ive gotta do it all again in june.

Its all worth it in the end :)

dont they numb the area before they cut you? or is that just wishful thinking? xx

She must have an epi!! she would be able to smile thru an epi with no pain relief!!

im sure she had an epi when i was pushing i loked constipaed i think most of us do i cant imagine smilling and pushing gabrielle out at the same time ouch the episiotomy scared me i had a teeny tiny graze and that hurt to go the toilet tmi sorry ouch ouch

i was told tears heal quicker than cuts coz its a natural cerated break rather than a clean line xxx

That's the most grafic video i have seen you don't normally see close up. Must have been on drugs to have that done- either way owch !!!!

that freaked me out so i asked my mum and my episiotomy was done with a scapel NOT a pair of scissors.

a minor tear can heal faster than a cut but its harder to stitch up because its not straight and can lead to problems with it healing and later on if they stitch a tear too tight.

they DO numb the area before doing an episiotomy, i had an epidural and they still used a local anesthetic on the area.

 ... thats what it must be like for a stepford wife to give birth

I agree and how do you smile through somthing like that:wacko:?! Im sorry but that was a tad hard to watch, that lady must have been on some serious meds.

I actually feel kinda sick after watching that. I had to have an epistomy because I had ventouse used to help baby out..But I can't imagine them using scissors. I didn't even know what was going on at the time. I had a lot of epidural so all I could feel was like an injections sort of feeling. Hopefully if I ever have more kids they'll actually come out of me unlike my stubborn little man. I don't think I could let them do it again afetr watching this video.

WOW...her face didnt crack once!!! I hope I can do that...(I highly doubt it), but that was amazing I too would like a labor like that minus the episiotomy!!

lol steford wife made me laugh lol she looks awfully good for somone in labour not a hair out of place or nothing i looked scarey

oh my goodness... did you see the way he CUT HER??!?!?!!!?! Just looked like he was cutting rind off a piece of bacon! Gross!
x

Ive heard that tearing can be a lot more painful, and dangerous in the long run rather then just letting them cut you. Maybe not like dangerous, just have a longer healing period and it will hurt a lot more.

Tearing actually heals a lot quicker, as the pieces of skin/tissue can mesh back together much easier and faster than a clean cut. That, and when they cut you they also cut through muscle :nope:

So tearing would be a lot more preferable, even if it's likely to hurt a little more!

When i had Eve i had an episiotomy coz they needed to use forceps to get her out, but i still tore after even having had one. She was 9lbs 13.5oz though

I didnt have any pain relief no loacal either, there was no time :dohh:

And yes, being cut does heal better, and a much cleaner job :)

My MW and doctors told me that cuts take longer to heal and tears are quicker - its just easier to stitch cuts as opposed to tears
Also wen my MIL had OH she got cut and it took her ages to heal apparently and when she had her daughter recently she was left to have a 2nd degree tear that apparently hurt more but healed better xxx
