Does squash count as water? The sugar free stuff? Just wondering as I'm trying to drink the 5 pints a day but mostly it's squash. And how about Diet Coke? I'm guessing not on that one!

Coke doesnt :haha:

But yeah squash does.

Also I totally read that as litres at first, I was about to tell you off

It does but watch the artificial sweetener in sugar free! Nasty stuff.

Technically any beverage can be classed as assisting water intake (except maybe alcohol which has a dehydrating affect) even water in food counts towards your daily water allowance. If you were stranded on a desert island and only had coke you wouldn't die of dehydration. It's just that along with the water in coke you're getting a lot of crap with it, so something like squash is obviously better. I am a fizzy drink addict, the way I'm trying to wean myself is having elderflower cordial with soda water.

This.

Try to flavour your water with fruits of herbs. I add slices of lemon, mint leaves, fresh ginger & cucumber. I leave in the fridge overnight & I drink from it during the day, it's also detoxing & helps in weight loss.

You can add strawberries, orange slices or kiwi & leave it overnight in the fridge. Flavoured natural water ;)

I have a few kidney problems and the specialist I'm under told me pure water is obviously best because even things like the flavoured water you can buy have not so great stuff in them. I buy bottled water now and have a brita filter.

Glad someone asked this as i've been trying to dronk more too but not a fan of plain water!
I have tried lemon and lime in the water overnight and nearly gagged when i tried to drink it!!!! :haha:

Coke does count if you're just talking about hydration. It's made of water. But you're also consuming sugar/sweetners, caffeine and general non-nutritional crap along with your water. All drinks except alcohol count as hydration.

Plain water is healthier option but sugar free squash is often suggested as a good way of getting your 8 glasses a day if you don't want plain water. I get my hydration from sugar free squash and tea mostly.
