My son is starting a Waterbabies course soon. We will be starting in the 3rd week and they offered us a session to catch up on what they would do in the first lesson, but unfortunately I can't make it. Can anyone tell me from experience what they do in the sessions?

I imagine it would just be teaching you some of the techniques you do in the very early weeks, so there is a swim position where you hold your little one in front of you with your arms straight and go backwards letting them swim towards you (if that makes sense). You'd probably also learn some of the songs - everything has a song that goes with it! And you'd probably do a few underwater swims to get you comfortable with doing them so you can jump in right away with what everyone else is doing. Really it's just getting you and your LO comfortable with their approaches and used to being in the water. I would recommend going if you can, or perhaps have someone else take your LO, like your partner? But if you can't, you'll definitely get caught up after a couple weeks.

We just had my DD's first session on Saturday and it was basically teaching the warm up routine, which is basically bouncing baby up and down in the water, splish splashing, the name, ready, go command and the swim position which the PP has explained. We did one underwater swim and then twinkle, twinkle little star which is basically signally the end of the lesson.

You will easily get caught up in a couple of weeks, it's a lot of fun, DS did it for 2.5 years and unfortunately his class was cancelled due to low numbers or we would have continued, I hope to take DD for at least the same amount of time.
