Hi ladies ive been giving charlie food for a few weeks now and hes loving it and seems much more settled :D He is still having 4 or 5 8oz bottles a day but with his morning bottle ive been giving him a bit of cereal/rice or rusk (made with his formula). In the afternoon he has been having half a 100% fruit fruit pot and with one of his evening bottles hes been having some pureed veg/chicken and veg/sweet potato and parsnip etc.

He doesnt seem to keen on savoury food but guess ive just gotta persevere.

Am i doing this right and giving him the right foods? Also am i right to still be giving him so much milk? Hes on nutramigen for milk intolerance

Thanks for reading x

My lo drank loads of milk still until he was about eight months. If you think about it fruit and veggies are not that filling so he still needs his milk. I must admit I did try and get him onto savoury first but saying that even now he prefers fruit and yoghurt. Just keep persevering like you say. It sounds like you're doing great

There certainly is no rush since your LO is only 4 months old, 2 months younger than the current recommended age to start solids.

I would still give as much milk as they want, and only offer solids after milk and never ever before or instead of milk.

I would perhaps just offer the savoury one too rather than a fruit ones.

And I wouldnt offer rusks as they do have a lot of sugar, even the reduced sugar ones!

Didn't see the age .... Yeah def stick with the milk that's the most important part.

Thank you ladies ill definately keep giving charlie the five bottles a day and cut out the rusks. Ill stick to his organic cereals and rice :D

I would just stick with the milk until six months as that has more calories and nutrients in than he will get from the solid foods. Also I would skip the rice cereal and rusks as they don't have much nutrition and the rusks are high in sugar. There's plenty of time after six months for solids, don't stress, milk is so much easier!! :)
