Websites I've been on and b&b ads

Twice recently I've noticed when I come on here after I've been on a website the ad is for that website? Is it a coincidence?

I imagine it's some kind of intelligent advertising... Facebook use it. For example, if your relationship status is "in a relationship" or married and you change it to single, a lot of the ads down the side will be for dating websites. The rest are made up of sites previously visited or similar to them. Sometimes even sites relating to things you've typed into a google search.
